We are proud to announce the return of Travel Malaysia Fair 2016! Back again for another year, the travel fair brings a slew of exciting deals and offers to the most fantastic places in Malaysia. Take a life-changing trip or simply give yourself a well-deserved break from the monotonous routine of everyday life.

As the official supporters of the Travel Malaysia Fair (TMF) 2016, Express & Excursion Bus Association (EEBA) is glad to be working with IBT Investment Pte Ltd and Tourism Malaysia once again.

TMF is the largest-ever travel and consumer fair to promote Malaysia as an essential, effervescent, and edgy travel destination for Singaporeans. Even though many may be familiar with the major states, there are still plenty of undiscovered gems in this friendly country.

Various malaysian states have set up booths to promote unique attractions and activities from their respective regions. These include enriching eco-tourism spots, thrilling theme parks, and dreamy beach resorts. Those looking for great experiences and new attractions will not be disappointed with the amount of impressive deals and packages available at TMF 2016.

Daily stage performances including cultural performances from Sarawak and meet-and-greet sessions with the Angry Bird, Hello Kitty and Legoland mascots are just some of the entertainment that both the young and the old will be able to enjoy during the three-day event. Visitors can also look forward to redeeming lucky draw prizes with a minimum expenditure of $200 at the fair. Lucky Draw prizes worth up to $18,000 include cruise vouchers sponsored by Star Cruises, Huawei mobile phone sponsored by RedBus, and numerous resort & hotel vouchers for Genting Highlands and Kuala Lumpur. If you would like to learn more about Sarawak's main attractions and the best ways to experience this charming state, register for the Sarawak travel workshops that will take place during the fair (refer to page 12 and 13).

With so much in store, Singapore EXPO Convention & Exhibition Centre, Hall 6A is the place to be this weekend. We look forward to seeing you at Travel Malaysia Fair 2016!

MAY 2016CALENDAR

Another revered festival that holds a deep cultural significance is the humble Aoi Matsuri that takes place in Kyoto, the former capital of Japan. Dating back to the 7th century, it is one of the oldest and most famous compared to the other ceremonial processions such as the Gion Matsuri and the Jidai Matsuri. The main highlight is the parade, whereby over 500 people adorning accessories and clothing from the Heian Period (794-1185) make their way from the Imperial Palace to the Kamo Shrines. Although the exact beginnings of the Aoi Matsuri is uncertain, it is believed that this tradition is practiced to this day to pacify the deities of the Kamo Shrines.

What better way to appease the gods then with a rocket festival? In the Yasothon province, located in the northeast of Thailand, the locals hold a deep-rooted traditional belief that launching rockets into the sky will bring rain to their crops. Adopting the literal meaning to the idiom, “the sky’s the limit”, each rocket is set-off with the intention of gaining more height than the previous launch. The home-made rockets measure up to nine metres in length and hold an estimated 20 to 25 kilograms of gunpowder. It is accompanied with folk music, street performances, and other community-driven activities to keep spectators entertained and engaged throughout the entire proceedings.

Into its 11th year, the noteworthy Borneo Jazz festival returns to once again entertain audiences with its soothing jazz music. Featuring musicians from the region and all across the globe, the 2-day event held in Miri, Sarawak, will include performances by Raw Earth, a Blues, Rock & Soul band consisting of Singapore’s best, including Danny Loong and Francis Chan (from the critically acclaimed Ublues), Victor Chen (winner of Strip Acoustic at Wala Wala), Surath Godfrey and Hanrong (Rock outfit Reverie). The band has played in major festivals, such as Beerfest Asia and opened shows for music legends such as Bob Dylan. The event will also encompass performances by Funkatorie from Malaysia, O Sister! from Spain and other notable groups and singers.

The Asia Fashion Exchange hosts key fashion events in Singapore throughout the month of May. Covering an extensive range of programmes dedicated to the trade, this week-long happening explores all facets of fashion.

Hitting the runway for another year, is this year’s Singapore Fashion Week. Fronted by the renowned Diane von Furstenberg, the iconic designer and President of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), the upcoming fashion extravaganza will serve as a platform for local talents to showcase their designs and meet key players in the industry. One such home-grown designer is Ong Shunmugam, winner of the Grand Award at the Design for Asian Awards 2013.

The Cheung Chau Bun Festival will probably be the quirkiest cultural celebration you have ever heard of. In the quaint island of Cheung Chau, the annual event dedicated to the god, Pak Tai, is commemorated with week-long celebrations, including the Piu Sik (Floating Colours) parade, and the popular Bun Scrambling Competition. As the main highlight of this event, the Bun Scrambling Competition requires contestants to climb a 60ft steel tower to gather as many “lucky” imitation buns as possible before the time runs out. The festivities also include lion dances, various performances, and other entertaining attractions.

See the capital of New South Wales in a whole new light! Vivid Sydney invites the best and the brightest designers and artists to transform the bustling metropolis of Sydney into a vibrant city embellished with neon lights, interactive installations and large-scale projections. The festival first started lighting up the night skies of Sydney in 2009 with the intention of promoting tourism in Sydney during winter. Vivid Sydney has come a long way since then, with millions of attendees turning up every year. The organisers of the event streamlined the yearly happening into three categories-Light, Music and Ideas. The eclectic mix of programs and performances makes use of spaces in ingenious ways to express art in every shape and size possible.

Fly in Style with KLMPlanning a trip to a faraway country, but dread the uncomfortable long-haul flight? Perhaps flying with KLM might turn your arduous journey into cosy and pleasant one.

With the launch of its World Business Class (WBC) seats, KLM aims to provide its passengers with an exceptional flight experience. The airlines has introduced full-flat seats (2.07m) that come with extra storage compartments. Working together with the renowned Dutch designer, Hella Jongerius, KLM seeks to make its passengers feel as though they are at home throughout their long haul flights.

Besides providing a comfortable journey, the positioning of the new WBC seats and the special partition between the television screens provide customers with optimal

privacy for the duration of their flight. KLM has made tremendous effort to incorporate sustainable materials into its new refurbished interiors. For instance, the airlines has recycled high-quality materials from old KLM uniforms, worn by stewardesses. These fabrics were used to spin new yarns which were then incorporated into the blue details of the carpet.

Over the years, KLM has improved its operations to provide more convenient flights between Singapore and Amsterdam and a daily flight between Singapore and Bali as a continuation of the KLM flight from Amsterdam.

MATTA FAIR, WHERE TRAVEL BEGINS

T he Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Fair roared into action on Friday, the 11th of March to dole out yet

another round of extravagant travel deals and promotions to domestic, regional, as well as international destinations.

The three-day affair took place at Putra World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and attracted over 100,000 visitors. It was evident from the massive turn out that the bleak economic outlook was no deterrent to the locals’ penchant for travel. Eager travellers jostled through the crowds to make their way to the various booths that offered deals that were too good to resist.

Families with young children found great

The massive bi-annual MATTA Travel Fair hits the capital of Malaysia and receives an overwhelming turnout.

bargains at the booths of Angry Bird Activity Park, Sunway Lagoon, Legoland Malaysia Resort and other attractions. With life-sized mascots roaming the crowded walkways, and booths designed to look like mini-theme parks, the fair did a fantastic job at enticing parents and engaging young children. There were plenty of opportunities for the adults to have fun as well; Korea Tourism Organisation had tons of activities lined up throughout the day – you could spin the ‘Wheel of K-Luck’ to win some goodies, enjoy a K-Pop dance performance, or pick up some Korean beauty tips from the make up demonstrations. Taiwan Tourism also staged a great number of performances and food tastings at regular intervals to tantalise

attendees with a taste of Taiwan. Patrons of the Japan National Tourism Organisation were treated to Geisha appearances and were given a photo opportunity with these traditional female entertainers.

South Australia Tourism managed to get visitors as close as possible to destinations such as Kangaroo Island and Eyre Peninsula with their Virtual Reality cameras; these ‘goggles’ provided wearers with an opportunity to catch a glimpse of Australia’s epic sceneries. Dana Urmonas, Regional Director of South Australia Tourism for Southeast Asia and India said, “MATTA provided us with an excellent opportunity to reach out to potential travellers planning to

go to Adelaide & South Australia, and acted as a platform to showcase all that our beautiful state has to offer. We were kept busy for all three days, answering queries from people. In this current economic climate, it was good to be there and to see so many people planning for their next holiday!”.

The throngs of people lining up at almost every booth, enquiring about travel deals and booking holidays, was a testament to the success of the fair. It goes without saying that travellers are bound to be excited for the next MATTA Fair, which will take place from the 2nd to the 4th of September 2016. Mark your calendars, folks!

Sarawak, Malaysia’s largest state and third largest island in the world, is located at the exotic island of Borneo. Strategically positioned in

the capital is Kuching International Airport, which connects the beautiful nation of Sarawak to the rest of the world.

Renowned for its diverse ecosystem, pristine beaches, and rich heritage, Sarawak offers a potpourri of experiences for travellers across the globe. A former colony of Britain, Sarawak’s colonial past emanates through the modern architecture all around the city. Sarawak’s real beauty and diversity however, can be found in its people - 27 ethnic groups speaking over 45 languages and dialects - who live in harmony and contribute to Sarawak’s charming and vibrant culture, which inadvertently spills over into its art, music, and culinary scene.

Sarawak’s natural beauty lies in its national parks and wildlife sanctuaries – one of which has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site (Mulu National Park). In fact, there are still countless species of flora and fauna that have yet to be uncovered in these dense regions. There is much to do when you visit the great outdoors - get in touch with nature as you witness squirrels scurrying through the woods or chance upon dark caves simply waiting to be explored; enjoy spectacular views of cascading waterfalls in the afternoon or kick back with a cocktail and indulge in the sunset when you are on the beach; dip into the majestic waters and explore Sarawak’s marine life and untouched coral reefs.

There are plenty of luxurious beach resorts and comfortable accommodations to suit your needs when you visit Sarawak. Aiman Batang Ai Resort and Retreat, formerly known as Hilton Longhouse Resort, is one such getaway located on the fringes of Batang Ai National Park, offering rustic serenity to its inhabitants.

An alternative abode which is a little closer to the concrete jungle would be the Riverside Majestic Premier Wing, a new extension of the Riverside Majestic Hotel. Situated in the heart of Kuching, options

for entertainment, dining, and shopping are aplenty in this district. A cycling tour is also a fantastic way to explore key attractions in this little friendly city.

The multiracial community in Sarawak also celebrates a slew of events and festivals all year round. Besides observing religious holidays and organising cultural bazaars, the city of Sarawak is also known for its invigorating music and arts festivals, which

are popular amongst both locals and tourists. Groove to the rhythm of Sarawak through festivities such as the Borneo Jazz Festival happening in May 2016 and Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF), taking place in August 2016. Celebrated in the regions of Miri and Kuching, these festivals showcase both local and international talents. The Borneo Jazz Festival, currently in its 11th year, is a must visit for all jazz-lovers. RWMF on the other hand is a three-day music festival that allows you to immerse yourself in the culture, art, and flavours of Borneo through the available fringe activities.

The handicrafts produced by the people of Sarawak are a reflection of the cultures and traditions of the various communities residing in this state. Porcelain wares are produced by the Chinese, while the Ibans are recognised as being the best at fashioning tie-dye textiles and pau kimbus – ceremonial cloths with intricate ethnic motifs weaved into the fabric.

The culinary scene in Sarawak is truly a feast for the senses. Tuck into local dishes such as the Sarawak Laksa and Kolo Mee, these seemingly familiar dishes are prepared with a local twist; seafood dishes including the Empurau (a type of freshwater fish) and prawn noodles are served with greens such as the Cangkuk Manis and Midin. The Kompia is another authentic local pastry dish which can be enjoyed with either sweet or savoury fillings. On warm days, cool off with a bowl of Gula Apong Ice Cream. If you’re willing to tickle your taste buds even further, try the Sago Worm, is a delicacy amongst the indigenous people of Sarawak.

With so much to offer, Sarawak is a destination with an eclectic mix of thrills and tranquillity awaiting the avid traveller at every corner.

The Melaka River boat cruise has become a major tourist destination over the years. With the help of the Melaka State Government the

river was cleaned up and subsequently given a new lease of life. Known as the ‘Venice of the East’, the Melaka River used to be a busy port and a meeting point for traders from the East and the West. The diverse architectural style and cultural influences of the 16th century can still be found along its narrow banks. There are a lot of historical buildings and monuments in the vicinity, including old mosques, temples, and churches, as well as traditional villages that were built on the banks a long time ago.

There are two types of guided cruises available, they can be taken from either the Quayside Heritage Centre or Taman Rempah. The 45-minute boat trip will take passengers to popular places in the city.

Kampung MortenKampung Morten is a traditional Malay village that is well worth the visit when taking the cruise tour. The living museum has been showcasing Malay heritage for more than a hundred years. The architecture and interior of the house, heavily influenced by traditional Malay decor, consists of embroidered tiles, brick staircases, and wood carvings. There are several private museums that provide more information on Malay culture, these places are accessible to the public.

One of the most popular private museums in Kampung Morten is Villa Sentosa. Guided tours will be conducted by residents, and precious artifacts, including a century-old copy of Quran and an original certificate issued by King George V will be showcased.

steamboat set dinners. The Bar Sol is popular among guests for its happy hours, cocktails, ice cream and snack selections.

Melaka Pirate ParkThe Melaka Pirate Park has also risen in popularity over the years, housing the well-known Eye on Melaka -a giant, slow moving Ferris wheel, and other pirate-themed activities, this has become a must-visit on the itineraries of many travellers. The park may also provide interesting entertainment, such as live magic performances, fire shows and many more.

Latest additions to this theme park include a pirate ship and a bungee trampoline. Visitors looking for an adrenalin-pumping activity can conquer the rock climbing wall that stands prominently near the Ferris wheel.

Shore Shopping GalleryLocated opposite of the Pirate Park is the Shore Shopping Gallery, which offers visitors an enjoyable shopping

experience and family-centric activities. Known for its elegant architecture and harmonious landscaping, the mall’s contemporary design appeals to the discerning tastes of both locals and visitors alike. The multitude of retail stores, impressive selection of restaurants, and bevy of services complement each other to satisfy every shoppers’ need.

The building also consists of 4-star Swiss Garden International Hotels and the world’s longest Oceanarium Complex, which presents a lively environment for business travellers, and shoppers. The Shore Oceanarium located at the 2nd floor, offers an extraordinary interactive platform for visitors to learn more about land and marine life biodiversity, our ecosystem, and of the different organisms inhabiting the environment. The Magical Vacuum Aquarium will enable visitors to explore a 3D environment when they step into the interactive zone. It will featured 3D views of the Mangrove Tree in Melaka River, the Pahang Rainforest, and the Sungai Perak. There will also be a 3D light display board that showcases fossil stone, and species of extinct fish.

The Shore Sky Tower provides hotel guests and visitors a panoramic view of the city of Melaka. Situated at the 43rd floor, it is the tallest man-made structure in Melaka City, which offers breathtaking views up to 50 kilometers in every direction. The perimeter fencing the deck is made from tempered glass, and provides an unobstructed view of the city. Another heart-stopping addition is the Sky Deck, it is one of Melaka’s most exciting and stunning modern tourist attraction.

Finally the Sky Deli, housed on the 42nd floor of the the Shore Sky Tower, will provide a modern dining experience in a relaxed and open atmosphere. The restaurant serves delicious local and Western cuisines, and allows customers to dine while indulging in a picturesque 360-degree view of the city.

MiddleburgAfter Melaka fell to the Dutch in 1641, the city’s walls were fortified as a preventive measure to ensure the city’s safety. The building of a bastion known as Middleburg is situated on the bank of Melaka River. The control tower was built in an attempt to further strengthen the city’s defences. This new bastion regulated the area around Melaka River, which at that time was bustling with shipping and trading activity.

The existing defence system with the new bastion provided cannon support to the Dutch military. Strategically located at the mouth of Melaka River, the focal point for trade and stopover for international trading ships, the tower played a crucial role in detecting and overcoming external threats.

Casa del RioCasa del Rio Melaka presents classy and elegant lodging, enjoyable dining and drinking experiences. The Spanish styled lodging situated along the Melaka River promenade, provides patrons with plenty of choices for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Hotel guests and walk-in visitors can also enjoy a sizzling Saturday Night Barbecue Buffet. Casa del Rio will revert to some of the classic local favourites for lunch at River Café.

Bar Rio might be a preferred option for others, with its happy hours, exciting live band performances, and wide selection of food and beverage options that include tapas, pizza and cocktails.

The River Grill serves semi buffet breakfasts, great steaks, and wines, while the River Café offers fresh juices, smoothies, light snacks, pizzas, and daily Peranakan tiffin set lunches and nightly

TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS

Travel serves as an escape from the monotonous routine of everyday life, it gives us a well-deserved break to relax and unwind.

Although it is good to explore new places and gain priceless experience in the process, there are some rules and regulations one must adhere to when traversing foreign lands. You might find yourself in an unfavourable situation if you fail to do so. Ignorance of the different laws and customs of your travel destinations might leave you feeling more than just embarrassed. Crossing borders is a serious issue, and there are several items that are banned, or have to be declared before passing through the checkpoints. It is hard to keep track of the restrictions placed on goods in most countries, however a little research goes a long way to ensure that your dream vacation doesn’t turn into a nightmare.

New ZealandNew Zealand provides travellers with a diverse range of activities to partake in. Whether it is hiking, skydiving, or even bungee jumping, each one is geared to deliver something exciting for everyone. The country is perfect for nature-loving individuals keen to explore the ecological wonders occupying every corner. In an effort to protect the natural wonders of this destination, the government of New Zealand has placed stringent laws against goods that might cause potential harm to the pristine environment.

Travellers have to declare all used equipment ranging from camping to gardening as these recreational items might be carrying pest and diseases, that could cause millions of dollars in damage to New Zealand. If you fail to declare risk goods on your Passenger Arrival Card, you could face a fine of 400NZD (New Zealand Dollar) or be prosecuted.

KoreaSeoul, the capital of the Republic of Korea, bustles with a wide range of activities, allowing visitors to shop, dine, and tour places of cultural interest. Although Seoul has made it on the list of must-visit countries of many travellers, there are materials that can be classified as harmful to public security. These include films, drawings, paintings, publications, recordings, books, or other devices which have the potential to expose confidential government information. In addition, if you are purchasing luxury goods or high-priced articles, be aware that these items have to be declared before your departure from Korea.

A good trip relies on more than just planning the perfect itinerary and packing the essentials.

ThailandFrom its entertaining nightlife to its sweeping beaches crowned with tall, swaying palm trees, Thailand has always been a country that offers something for everyone. Prohibited goods that are illegal for either import into or export out of the country include, but are not limited to, any and all materials that are obscene in nature, pornographic materials, goods with the Thai national flag, fake royal or official seals, counterfeit trademark goods and products such as, CDs, computer softwares etc. There are also a list of restricted goods that require a permit for import or export purposes. Thailand houses the most intricately crafted works of art, from paintings to antiquities, it beckons art enthusiasts from all over the world to its shores. However, the import or export of these fine objects of art, even if they are registered, require permission from the Fine Arts Department.

Brunei DarussalamThe tiny island of Borneo is known for its virgin rainforests, impressive traditional architecture, and its thriving flora and fauna. It is a destination that draws anyone with an affinity for nature to its shores. It is important to know that this bountiful oil-rich sultanate abides by strict islamic laws, and as such, does not take kindly to the import of prohibited items. Travellers are not allowed to bring in cigarettes without health warnings written on the packages, products that are of plant, meat or any other animal origins-unless

authorised, counterfeit money and coins amongst other thing into the country. It is also important to note that travellers over the age of two will be required to pay an additional 12BND Passenger Service Tax when leaving the country; travellers returning to Indonesia, Malaysia or other Philippines East Asia countries will only need to pay a 5BND charge. Even though the public consumption or sale of alcohol is not allowed in Brunei, travellers who are non-Muslims over 17 years of age may import alcohol with the exception that they declare them to the customs authorities on arrival and consume them in private.

SingaporeThere’s nothing more embarrassing than being ignorant of the laws of your own country. With the increase in outbound tourism, it is crucial that travellers understand the goods that need to be declared, that are

prohibited into or out of the country. It is no surprise that chewing gums and drugs are strictly not allowed into our borders-the former giving travellers just a slap on the wrist, and the latter landing you behind bars or worse. Other prohibited goods include electronic cigarettes, any kind of tobacco products, firecrackers, obscene articles, etc.

Visit the Singapore customs website to get a better insight into Singapore’s laws; skip the time-consuming process of being detained by customs, when you can be spending precious time basking in a sun-drenched beach.

For more information: http://www.customs.gov.sg

Do note that these restrictions imposed on the above mentioned countries are subject to change without prior notice. Travellers are strongly advised to do their own research before setting off to discover a new place. Any piece of information is vital for a smooth and pleasant trip!

The Finest Vessels at SeaNorwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd (NCLH) has recently announced the opening of the company’s first office in Singapore, and the appointment of a dedicated local team to drive forward the regional growth for the company’s three brands: Norwegian Cruise Line - an innovator in cruise travel with a history of breaking the boundaries of traditional cruising, most notably with the introduction of “Freestyle Cruising,” which revolutionised the industry by giving guests more freedom and flexibility; Oceania Cruises - offering immersive experiences with destination-rich itineraries spanning the globe and the finest cuisine at sea; and Regent Seven Seas Cruises - an all-inclusive luxury cruise line providing all-suite accommodations, highly personalised service, acclaimed cuisine, fine wines and spirits, free Wi-Fi, sightseeing excursions in every port and other amenities included in the cruise fare.

The opening of the Singapore office represents a major base of operations in support of the three brands. The launch in Singapore is further strengthened by the return of the company’s contemporary premium brand, NCL, to Asia for the first time since 2002. It will offer six sailings until March 2017. With Singapore’s strategic position as a leading port and top tourist destination in Southeast Asia, it is the city of choice for cruise passengers.

“Asia is an increasingly important market for Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, with cruise tourism in the region growing at double-digit rates, demand increasing from both cruise passengers from Singapore and the rest of Asia, and international travellers seeking to experience

Asian destinations. With this new office, we will be able to better support our travel partners, forge new mutually-beneficially partnerships, and provide our valued Singapore guests a range of enhanced services, for passengers seeking cruise holiday experiences across the spectrum - from contemporary to luxury and short sailings to world voyages,”

said industry expert Mr. Steve Odell, Senior Vice President and Managing Director Asia Pacific for NCLH, who will be leading the Singapore office.

Whether it’s the ancient ruins that stood the test of time, or even the outstanding black

and red beaches fashioned by mother nature, Greece will sweep you off your feet with its visually stunning attractions and charming splendours. Embark on a journey across the romantic and picturesque cities of Greece, and be inspired by the dramatic landscapes that will greet you at every turn.

AthensDating back to the Neolithic age, the capital of Greece depicts a city frozen in time. Buildings and monuments erected in the past stand stoically, emanating the rich history of this mediterranean country.

Tour the Acropolis of Athens, positioned above the city this age-old citadel comprises of impressive greek architecture coupled with structures that are of historic significance. Housing the imposing temple of Olympian Zeus, the world-renowned Parthenon Temple and other equally

timeless giant masterpieces, it is easy to see why the Acropolis has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Another sight that is not to be missed is the Panathenaic Stadium, which hosted the first modern Olympic Games. The popular tourist attraction first commenced the legendary games in 1896, and has become an iconic event since its beginnings in 776 BC. If you have some time to spare, take a leisurely stroll around the Syntagma Square, where you will be able to witness the ceremonial change of the Evzone Guards that takes place every hour in front of the Parliament building. Dressed in white kilts and contrasting red and black caps, these well-trained men are hand-picked from the Greek army for this honorable position.

KalambakaOriginally inhabited by monks in the 11th century, The Meteora Monasteries, served as a sanctuary during the Turkish occupation and in time of lawlessness. The monks retreated further up the

monastery, until they were living in the inaccessible peaks of the structure. Before roads, pathways, and steps were built, the monasteries were reached with the use of ladders.

Make a quick stop at the Leonidas Monument, and take pictures with the statue of the famous Spartan king who led a small band of Greek allies against the Persian army led by King Xerxes. The monument built in honour of the valiant Spartan king stands to this day as a testament to the great lengths Greeks would go to, to maintain their freedom and to defend their homeland against invaders.

DelphiThe city of Delphi transports travellers to a time when gods ruled the fates of men. The timeless ruins built to honour omnipotent beings still stand to this day, reflecting the sacred ceremonies practiced with reverence and unwavering faith. The Temple of Apollo is one such place that is steeped in mythology. Situated on the slopes of Mt. Parnassos, this

age-old structure used to be the home of a notable oracle. Established in the 7th century, this sanctuary is said to be constructed by two great architects known as Trophonios and Agamedes.

Intrigued to find out more about history of Delphi? Head down to the Delphi museum and learn more about the early civilization through the various exhibitions that feature the Naxian Sphinx, the Statue of Antinous, and other prominent artifacts of Delphi.

If you would like to discover this town through the eyes of its people, then immerse yourself into the archaic culture of this city by visiting the quaint and humble village of Delphi. Be greeted by the incredible landscapes that cradle this small village, and be welcomed by the warm hospitality of the locals.

SantoriniKnown for its red and black sun-bathed beaches, deep blue waters, and beautiful rock formations, Santorini draws beach-goers from all around the world to its unique shores. However, there is more to this island than its breathtaking beaches. Fira, the capital of Santorini, is renowned for its picturesque caldera- a large volcanic crater, that overlooks the vast Aegean Sea. The caldera is not only a perfect viewpoint or photo stop, but also houses the main commercial establishments in Santorini. Take a stroll along the seemingly endless streets that snake through the entire region. The town is connected by a network of paths that consists of narrow walkways and sloped alleyways.

Another must-visit destination is Oia Village, located within Santorini, this place is home to the famed bright, blue domed churches, many of which were cave houses that were fashioned out of volcanic rock. Besides its impressive architecture and scenery, Santorini is one of the best places in the world to watch a sunset. If you would like to dine while taking in the glorious sight, Sunsets restaurant will offer an ideal spot to enjoy the view,

and serve up fresh seafood dinners to complete the perfect dining experience.

MykonosSituated in the heart of cyclades - within a group of Greek islands, the town’s attractions draw crowds from near and far. Although Mykonos has an exuberant nightlife that attracts partygoers, the island also consists of quiet retreats that appeal to the more self-contained travellers. The beaches in the northern coast, such as Agia Ánna, Houlákia, Kápari, Agrári, and Agios Stefanos, are perfect places to relax and unwind with a book.

Drop by the Archaeological, Folklore and Maritime Museums to revisit the island’s past. If you are feeling hungry, visit the modest cafés and the restaurants lined along the Matoyiánni Street. Looking to explore a little more? Take a trip to “Little Venice”, this scenic

corner accommodates mansions with balconies perched on the surrounding cliffs. Grab a beverage at the waterfront café while watching the windmills of Mykonos. These iconic landmarks stand prominently over the town, and are visible from almost any part of the region.

The islands of Greece are notable for their quaint churches, however the Church of Panagia Paraportiani is famous for its unique architecture. This entire structure is composed of five small churches that were constructed throughout the late 14th and 17th century.

Experience Greece for yourself and be enchanted by lands steeped in myth and rich culture. Book your tour package with EU holidays and embark on your 11 Day / 8 Night mediterranean adventure. The itinerary planned by EU will cover most of the locations mentioned in this article.
