Year 6 The Rivers Secondary College Kadina Campus Orientation On Tuesday 26 February, between 10:00am-2:00pm, Year 6 students will be provided with the opportunity to experience a day at High School. A variety of activities will run during the day. Parents will need to organise to transport their own child to and from this activity. Northern Rivers Swimming Carnival A big good luck to all students who will be representing Tregeagle District at the Northern Rivers Swimming Carnival on Wednesday 27 February at Alstonville Pool. Ms Braddon will be the supervising teacher on the day. Scripture Scripture and Non Scripture sessions will be starting at Tregeagle PS on Friday 1 March (Week 5). The sessions will run from 9:30-10:00am each Friday morning. Parent and Carer Afternoon Pickup To ensure the safety of all students in the afternoon, we ask that parents/carers walk inside the hall gate to the parent pick up line to collect their children. Please do not collect your child from the classroom in the afternoon. We also ask that parents do not allow their children to play on the school playground equipment after school if they have been picked up. This makes supervision of bus students extremely difficult for the teacher on duty. There is a small playground near the hall available for students to play on in their parent’s care which is outside of school grounds. P&C Meetings The next P&C Meeting will be tomorrow Friday 22 February in the school staff room, starting at 9:30am. Everyone is very welcome and encouraged to attend. The P&C AGM meeting will be held on Friday 22 March at 9:30am. 2019 NSW Ambulance School and Group Cover Scheme Tregeagle PS is covered by the NSW Ambulance School and Group Cover Scheme for 2019. This scheme, managed by the NSW Ambulance Service, provides assurance that the cost of an ambulance service will be met for any student enrolled at a NSW public school, who has an accident or falls ill whilst at school or on an organised school excursion or activity, and requires the ambulance service. For the 2019 school year, coverage of the scheme also extends for cross-border excursions to the Australian Capital Territory and Victoria. There are no reciprocal arrangements in place for NSW students travelling on school excursions to either Queensland or South Australia. In these instances, parents/carers will be asked to arrange separate individual student ambulance/travel insurance. A place for respectful learning 'The School Community Charter' was produced by the NSW DoE to support a respectful environment in our schools. It outlines a framework for positive interactions and provides parents with guidance in engaging as

partners in their children’s learning. It also highlights unacceptable behaviour that has no place in our school communities. You can see the Charter at https://education.nsw.gov.au/public-schools/going-to-a-public-school/school-community-charter. Creative Kids now join Active Kids Active Kids and Creative Kids are programs designed to encourage more children to participate in sport, active recreation and creative and cultural activities. Each year, parents, guardians and carers can receive a $100 voucher to go towards both creative and physical activities for school aged children. That’s $200 worth of savings per year for each child. A Creative Kids voucher will help parents to cover some of the registration, participation and tuition costs on activities such as singing, drama, coding, languages, music, writing, drawing and photography. The Active Kids voucher can be used on sports, fitness and physical activities for registration, participation and membership costs. The vouchers can be used once with an approved provider. To find out more, parents need to visit: https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/ Robotics Fun! Throughout Term 1, Tregeagle PS have been lucky enough to have a STEMshare Tablet Robotics Kit. Mrs Collins and Ms Braddon have been working with the 5/6B class with the Lego WeDO 2.0 robotics kits and we were very lucky at last weeks assembly to see a demonstration of the students hard work. Kai T and Mitchell S said 'At the moment we are currently building a massive offroad rover. You control it on an iPad and it will be able to drive on the grass. We like free building, instead of following the WeDO instructions. We like creating what your mind wants to do. Its so fun as we like to play with lego. It feels nice when you finish your creation and it works. We feel really proud!' Rebecca Fletcher Principal Northern Rivers PSSA Boys Cricket Congratulations to Matthew B and Jackson S for participating in the NRPSSA Boys Cricket on Monday. They reported to have had a fantastic day and have been inspired to take their cricketing experience further. They were faced with some really fast bowlers and were amazed at the talent that’s out there. Well done to both students. Nardene Braddon PSSA Sports Coordinator Schools Clean Up Day – Friday 1 March Our school is holding a Schools Clean Up activity on Friday 1 March. Students will be helping to clean up around our school and will be participating in class Emu Bobs (collecting rubbish from around our school playground). If students have gloves or a bucket please bring these along on the day. Kirsty Spence Junior Landcare Coordinator
