A typical anti-seep collar or trench dam on a 36” diameter sewer pipe showing the temporary plywood frame which serves as a form into which AquaBlok® is placed. For this particular application, the form was positioned for an 18” wide trench that was keyed at least 12” past the excavated trench width.

Ordinary crushed bedding stone was added on the outside of the plywood form as AquaBlok® was added into the form. The bentonite and stone composite ships in a 2,400-lb bulk supersack and is ready for placement directly from this packaging. It can be suspended using an excavator (L) and then be placed either by cutting the bag or by opening the discharge snout (R).

A close-up of the AquaBlok® discharging from the snout of a 2,400-lb bulk supersack to bring the level of the trench dam material (center) level with the bedding stone (L and R). Note that the stone and bentonite composite is pre-blended (in the bag) so that the coated aggregate is pour-in-place ready.

An AquaBlok® trench dam along a 36” diameter sewer pipe just prior to the removal of the temporary form. (Form can also remain in place.) The dry material flows freely in a dry state to provide both structural support and a consistent seal under and around the pipe. The product can be wetted to ensure that all of the interior bentonite has the opportunity to hydrate/swell.
