Situated on the Southern Clyde Estuary, Troon Yacht Havenprovides an ideal port for entering the Clyde or forpassage making to Ireland and the South. Troon is themost accessible marina in Scotland being only 10 minutesfrom Glasgow Prestwick Airport, 35 minutes from Glasgowcity centre by car/train, direct dual carriageway/motorwaylinks to the south, as well as a ferry service to NorthernIreland.

Troon is one of the longest established marians inScotland. Opened over 30 years ago our extremelyexperienced and helpful staff are on hand 24 hours tomaximise the enjoyment of boating. Toilets and ShowersLuxurious toilet and shower area located in the mainbuilding below bar and restaurant.

LaundryCoin operated washing machines and tumble drier arelocated in the marina building. Laundry key is availablefrom marina office.

TrolleysTrolleys are located at the bridgehead, if, for whateverreason, a trolley falls into the water, please advise marinastaff immediately so that it may be recovered.

Refuse/Waste DisposalRubbish bins are located at the bridgehead and emptiedregulary. Facilities are also available for collection of oldbatteries and flares. Waste oil and oil filter disposalpoints are located beside the marina office - please askstaff for details. Please help to keep the site clean andtidy and inform staff of any spillages or mess so thatthey can deal with it.

Water and ElectricityFresh water is available throughout the site. Electricityusage is metered; please make arrangements withmarina office before connecting.

Fuel and GasDiesel is available 24hrs a day.Call marina office on VHF 37/80 for service. Calor gascan be purchased from the Chandlery.

BoatyardOur 50-ton boat hoist and 20-ton mobile crane operateMonday to Friday. Power and water points are locatedthroughout the yard, and there is a waste oil tanksituated close to the marina office.

All types of repair and maintenance work can be carriedout on site –West Coast Marine Services operatefrom a large heated repair shed, Troon Marine Servicesare Yanmar agents, and both companies can arrangeeverything from routine maintenance to major re-fits.

Boat Electrics and Electronics and MB Marine specialisein the repair and installation of marine electronics.

Sailing ClubsTroon Cruising Club is based within the marina andorganise racing and cruising throughout the season.

The Clyde Cruising Club is Scotland’s leading yachtclub with a full diary of cruising and racing events heldaround the Clyde and West Coast of Scotland. TheClyde Cruising Club also publish a comprehensiverange of Sailing Directions. Further details andmembership forms for both clubs are available from themarina office.

SailmakersA sail pick-up/collection point is located in the marina.Keys are held at reception.

ChandleryKyle Chandlers offers a wide range of boatingequipment, clothing and fitting-out supplies. Open sevendays a week, the chandlers will gladly order anything notin stock.

Sailing Schools & Yacht CharterMaritime Connection is an RYA Training Centreoffering both shore-based and on board tuition to alllevels from their base at Troon Yacht Haven and onboard their high quality yachts. Second Wind Sailingoffer RYA courses for both power and sail on board theirMoody 42 and Birchwood 37.

For a day to remember Fleming Executive Charteroperate the 58ft President Lexus Lady offering fullycatered luxury cruises for up to 12 people. NewHorizon Sailing will take you all around the West Coastof Scotland and further on board their comfortable andcapable Oyster yacht.

Yacht SalesEuroyachts are the appointed brokers at Troon YachtHaven, and distributors for Jeanneau Sail and Power. Anyboat berthed at Troon Yacht Haven which is for salemust be registered with Euroyachts. Free boating adviceon subjects such as finance, registration, insurance andvaluations will be gladly supplied.

Euroyachts are also brokers at nearby Largs Yacht Havenwhere they have recently moved their headquarters intoa new purpose built boat showroom.

Bill MacKay Yachts specialise in the sale andpreparation of Elan Yachts as well as offering additionalservices in yacht campaining, blue water cruising, andrig set-up.

Troon Yacht Haven is one of the most accessiblemarinas in the country and getting here by anymeans could not be easier.

TransportBy carFrom the South (M6) Take the M74 to junction 12,then the A70 (Ayr) to Sandyford Toll roundabout, join theA7 following signs for Troon. Alternatively continue onthe M74/A74 until the M8, then follow directions asbelow for Glasgow.From Glasgow (M8) Exit M8 (Westbound) at junction22 onto M77 (Kilmarnock). Continue M77/A77 toroundabout, take 3rd exit (A78) and follow signs toTroon Harbour.

By railFrom Glasgow take the train to Ayr and alight at Troon,the station is a 10-15 minute walk from the marina, andthere is a taxi rank on the Southbound platform.

By airGlasgow Prestwick Airport is only 10 minutes taxi rideaway from Troon Yacht Haven, and Glasgow InternationalAirport is 30 minutes by train from Troon.

By ferryP&O Fast Ferry service twice daily to Troon from Larne.

Harbour Approaches• Waypoint: 55 33.20N 04 42.00W• The outer harbour entrance is marked to the west by

a White lighthouse (Occ. Wg 6s) and to the east by aflashing red light (F1 R 10s).

• The marina entrance within the harbour is marked bya lit starboard hand buoy.

• Access is available at all states of the tide (-2.4CD).

Tides• +0500 Dover; duration 0630.• Standard Port GREENOCK

Charts and Pilots• The relevant Admiralty Charts for the area are 1866,

2220; Imray C63.• Copies of various pilot books are available in

reception for reference, and may also be purchasedfrom the chandlery.

Tidal and Weather InformationHigh Water times are displayed at the bridgehead withlocal weather information. Weather forecast and tidetables are available from the marina office.

Ferry MovementsThere is a ferry terminal in Troon Harbour, andcare should be taken to avoid ferries during dockingoperations. All commercial ship movements areannounced on VHF channels 16, 14 & 80, yachts areencouraged to contact the harbour master on channel14 when entering or leaving the harbour. A flashingamber light at the Seacat berth signals imminentdepartures/arrivals.

Your SafetyFor your safety and enjoyment of our marinas please besure to follow the guidelines below. Comprehensivemarina rules can be found on the reverse of yourberthing contract.

All boats using the marina facility, ashore or afloat, musthave a minimum of £3,000,000 third party insurance.

General• Please familiarise yourself with the location oflifesaving and fire fighting equipment on the pontoonsand ashore, you will find safety ladders, fire fightingand life saving equipment on all the pontoonwalkways.

• Please take particular care on the pontoons when wetor icy as they can be slippery, please avoid running onthe pontoons and always ensure appropriate footwearis worn. Special care needs to be taken at night.

• Report all accidents and potential accidents to themarina reception immediately. Please also report anydefective or damaged marina equipment immediately.

• Please ensure all children and non swimmers wear alife jacket at all times.

• Please do not allow children to ‘ride’ in the trolleys.• Swimming and scuba diving are not permitted in themarina.

• Do not speed in the marina, please mind your washand keep below 5 knots.

• Do not remove supports from vessels in the yard, orrun engines of vessels stored ashore. All furling sailsmust be removed prior to boats being lifted.

• Always isolate gas and fuel when leaving your boat.• Please do not ride bicycles, skates or scooters on thepontoons.

• Please do not allow dogs to foul the marina, there arebins on site located at the bridgehead for you to clearup after them.

In case of a fire on board• Sound the alarm by ringing the bell at the bridgeheadand ensure the marina staff are aware of the situation.

• Call 999.• Clear the area of people.• Only tackle the fire if it is safe to do so with theextinguishers provided in the emergency cabinets.

• Retreat to a safe distance and locate the nearest FireAssembly (Muster) Point.

• Do not obstruct the bridges as access will be requiredby the emergency service and marina staff.

We aim to provide a relaxed and safeenvironment for you to enjoy your boating in andask that all marina rules and regulations arefollowed.

Marina Facilities• We provide facilities ashore for the recycling of glass,plastic, paper, oil, batteries and cardboard. Our aim isto get all marina users to recycle and divert rubbishfrom landfill.

• We provide clean and convenient facilities so you donot have to use sea toilets.

In the marina and on the water• Please be aware of wildlife, do not disturb marine lifeor wildlife by causing excessive wash.

• Please avoid water pollution and use the facilitiesprovided ashore.

• Never throw rubbish overboard; facilities for rubbishare located at the bridgehead for your convenience.

• Do not flush out or clean out bilge tanks into themarina.

• If there is a leak of fuel or oil please notify marina staffimmediately as fuel spillage kits and procedures are inplace to help.

• A refreshing swim at Troon swimming pool.• Enjoy a cocktail on the terrace at Scotts overlooking

Known as the “Castle of Kings” Dundonald Castle hasbeen renovated over the last few years and the visitorcentre tells the intriguing story of the castle, itsinhabitants and its history.

• Dean Castle and the Dick Institute (Tel: 01563522702). If you think that one of your relatives mighthave come from this area then the Dick Institute isthe place to find out. Dean Castle itself is aremarkable place containing amongst other thingsan internationally important collection of earlymusical instruments.

• The Magnum Centre in Irvine (Tel: 01294 278381) isone of Scotland’s biggest leisure centres with thebiggest water slides! In addition to the sportingfacilities the Magnum has both a cinema andtheatre.

• Also in Irvine is the Scottish Maritime Museum (Tel:01294 278283) showcasing Scotland’s influence onthe maritime history of the world from theeighteenth century to the modern day.

If you have a day to spare:• Burns National Heritage Park (Tel: 01292 443700).

This area of Ayrshire was where Scotland’s nationalpoet was born. Experience the passion and power of

Robert Burns as well as visiting his home and many ofthe locations that inspired the bard including the“Tam O’Shanter Experience”.

• Culzean Castle (Tel: 01655 884455) is one of theNational Trust for Scotland’s most visited sites. Thisstunning castle is situated in beautiful groundslooking out towards the Island of Arran and AilsaCraig. Culzean is an excellent family day out!

• Take the train to Glasgow and visit the art galleriesand museums, as well as the excellent shops andrestaurants.
