Wonderful Indonesia and Turi Beach with Cycosport Had An Amazing Race on Nongsa Challenge 2016

After the huge successful at 2014, Cycosport was back again to Nongsa. Cycosports event supported by Wonderful Indonesia, Nongsa Challenge 2016, was finally happened on Sunday,14 February 2016. Nongsa Challenge 2016 was a cycling road race event that’s managed by Cycosports. As the title speaks itself, this racing will take place in Nongsa, the northern area of

Batam. It was sure to challenge even the fittest and great precursor to upcoming races in the region. This Nongsa circuit was a 12km loop with each loop having 175m of climbing. There were around 135 cyclists joining this event. Most of the cyclists were coming from nation wide Singapore, United Kingdom and some of them were coming from

Indonesia, Australia, Japan as well. This year they left from Harbour Front and headed to Batam Centre for the start.

Once the pelotons were ready, they were escorted out of the city to Nongsa where the real challenge of the Nongsa circuit awaits – 7 laps for Cat 1/2 and 5 laps for Cat 3/ Womens. The race was started at 9

AM. After went through 7 laps with a challenging track, the cyclists reached the finish line which was placed in Turi Beach Resort. After the race, the cyclists were welcomed to have lunch which was set by Turi Beach Resort team. Awang, Turi Beach Resort mascot, and a group of music band also came to entertain the participants. The lunch and prize giving ceremony were held in Turi Beach Resort, specifically in the lobby. After they cool down and had lunch, the winners of the race were announced, there are numbers of

winner based on different categories; cat 1, cat 2, cat 3 and women. After the race winners announced, the event was ended by the lucky draws with lot of prizes for the participants. This racing event also was witnessed by Yusfa Hendri, Head of Batam Tourism.

The event ended up successfully. The cyclists were sent back to the Harbour Front Ferry Terminal after the closing event was finished. They’re back to Singapore, as well as their bikes. Congratulations for the winners and congratulations for Cycosports that successfully run their second event of the year, Nongsa Challenge 2016. Turi Beach Resort hopes that we can see you again with more cyclists spirit in the next event!

During the dinner, lion dance by skilled team performed rousing dance to buildup the Chinese New Year spirit. As celebration of cheer and good fortune, special Yu Sheng also has been prepared for tossing at the peak of the event . In Chinese tradition, Yu Sheng, which is a tossing salad with raw fish, was considered as an auspicious dish especially eaten during Chinese New Year because it was a homophone for ‘increase in abundance’ and therefore symbolised prosperity when ushering in the new year.

Even more extraordinary, Turi Beach presented an iconic fashion show which showcased Batik and Kebaya Encim, an authentic fashion acculturation between Java and Chinese. Not only that, Chinese culture dance also performed to liven up the atmosphere. Turi Beach also invited a special guest to host the event, Miss Kelly Mok, who is crowned as Miss Singapore Face of the Year 2015. The celebration will not complete without Ang Pow given to the guests and moreover to be given as well as bunch of lucky draw prizes. The celebration was wrapped up by merry noise

from firecrackers and fireworks. “Turi feels grateful towards Indonesia’s Tourism Ministry under Wonderful Indonesia flagship for supporting this event as it is going smoothly and well. For the very next period, we hope Wonderful Indonesia never stop supporting all events which can be a good bait for foreign to come to Batam.”

This event was also attended by Guntur Sakti, Head of Kepulauan Riau’s Tourism dan Bapak Eddy Susilo, Head of Division of South East Asia Market Festival.
