Migration

Authentication Options

• The ‘default’ option is to use accounts within Microsoft’s Azure Active Directory service

• Many organisations may want to consider using their own AD DS accounts

• This requires either an AD FS infrastructure, third party (i.e. Okta) or Azure AD

Option 1: Use Azure AD Accounts

Option 2: Use internal AD DS Accounts

Migration to Exchange Online

• Performed by Microsoft or partner; standard mailbox moves similar to On-Premises migration

• Requires DirSync components

• Use Microsoft’s bandwidth calculator to determine migration timelines

Migration to SharePoint Online or OneDrive for Business• One major

factor influencing SharePoint Online migrations is how to get content into SharePoint Online

• Tools from 3rd party vendors can help here

Migration to Skype for Business

• Simple migration, requires only a few PowerShell scripts to change users Lync server location to the cloud• Administration done via the Office 365 Admin Console
