Language points• Hardly/ever hardly 是具有否定意义的副词，位于实义动

词前，意思是“几乎不；几乎没有”， hardly ever 是一个常用短语，意思是“几乎从不；很少；难得”。如：

Kate hardly ever plays computer games. Kate 很少玩电脑游戏。

1) hardly 本身含有否定意义，句中不可再使 用其 他否定词。如：

我简直不知道说什么好。 (×) I hardly don’t know what to say. (√) I hardly know what to say. 2) hard, hardly 的词形相近，不少人常常将 h

ardly 误作 hard 的副词。其 实 hard 本身也可用作副词，表示“拼命地；努力地”的意思。如：

Mike studies hard at school. Mike 在学校努力学习。

life lives 的原形是 life ，复数形式读作 lives /laiv

z/ 。 life 是一个多义词，在不同的意思中，它可以是可数名词， 也可以是不可数名词，当泛指生活或生命时，它属于不可数名词。
