Portrait photography or portraiture : is photography of a person or group of people that displays the expression, personality, and mood of the subject. Like other types of portraiture , the focus of the photograph is usually the person's face, although the entire body and the background or context may be included. Jimmy Nelsson Jimmy nelsons work is based around people from different areas of life from different countries and using portraiture to show the persons personality and mood in one photo. From the images you can usually guess the surrounding temperatures of the person and which continent they come from. Some of the portraits are close ups and some are mid shot but that’s generally all you need to capture the moment.

Purpose: this could be for an exercitation, or magazine for national geographic.Composition: this is a portrait photograph composed on landscape frame. The rule of thirds have been used on this image to focus on the mans face.Image analysis: the colours used in this image are snow white in contrast with scarlet red and dark black. His eyes are greyish and his iris is small due to the amount of bright white snow he’s exposed to. The white around him symbolise innocence, purity and simplicity; his face is abled to back up all of them because he seems like a happy person good at heart but hasn’t had an easy life. He looks like he’s in his 40s due to the wrinkles. the rule of thirds apply for this image and is important as the persons face is in centre of the frame the Meaning: this shows a man who has had to work hard all his life to maintain his health and the wellbeing of his family.

Purpose: the purpose of this image is to capture the culture of another establishment (society), the background of another. It could be used for an exhibition.Composition: the image is a portrait composed in landscape frame. The image features a man standing in front of a black backgroundImage analysis: the image has a very deep historical meaning. It shows a Red Indian in uniform. The colours used in the image are all bright you’ve almost got the full set of the rainbow, as there are primary, secondary and tertiary colours. The rule of thirds apply for this image and is important as the persons face is in centre of the frame making him the focus of the imageMeaning: this image shows historical culture of the native Indians of America. The portrait probably shows a warrior in his true colours as he is at one with nature.

Landscape photography: shows spaces within the world, sometimes vast and unending, but other times microscopic. Landscape photographs typically capture the presence of nature but can also focus on man-made features or disturbances of landscapes.

adam burtons work is all about landscape and reacuring theme of nature. He has photographed five of the seven continents and now specialises in the landscapes of the UK, particularly Southwest England. From hes images you see mostly green and brown and other earthy colours shows that he loves nature.

Most landscape images are natrualy lit by the sun like this one. The image was

taken in the early mornin with the sun shuned from the top left making the leafs on the trees apeer lighter and casting their shadows on the road. The road is the focal point of this image and the pathway of the road is just bellow the center frame.

This landscape image uses natural light from the sun to beautifully light up this image. We know that the image was taken in the early morning as we can capture the early light rays casted by the sun. We can see that see the light coming in from the top right hand corner of the frame, the centre of the frame

is the stream. We get a pathway of stepping stones this is the focal point of the image, its what the photographer has captured and wants us to see most. The natural light makes the image seem like a calm and relaxing morning.The purpose of this is image may have been to capture a specific area they want to advertise for promotion of land purposes or to put in a landscape book for people to buy.

Surrealism definition: Surrealism aimed at expressing imaginative dreams and visions free from conscious rational control. It looks at things you can picture using your mind. Surreal images more often confuse viewers as they’re non realistic so you have to use your head to understand it properly.

christopher jchristopher j is a photograther whos work is based around surrealism. His images mostly show men with surreal power. He puts a lot of effort in edditing his pictures to profection so they look real but not real. Most of his images have bad weather and are light grey.

This image has obviously been photoshoped. It shows a man in shades and a t-shirt looking outwards. A mountainside with trees has been added to the inside of his figure. The lighting from this image comes from the sun shinning from his right side almost showing a cast shadow of him. The picture was taken during sun set, you can tell because is closer to horizon. The purpose of this image might be used in books and exhibitions meaning it could generate an income. The person is the image is centre framed and sideward on, as he doesn’t look into the camera. The land is at the bottom of the frame and the sky takes up most of the rest. Image analysis: the colour used in the image is dominantly sky grey,

followed by green and brown. The subject could be nature. Meaning for the image: this shows freedom.

This is a serial image the purpose of this image could be for books or used in an art gallery for exhibitions. The composition and framing is a framing shot, a frame with in a frame. The rue of thirds apply with I this image as It draws our attention to the individual who’s right in the middle and seeming to be levitating.Image analysis: the dominant colour in this image is black followed by grey and white. The light in the image comes from the sun and we see the persons shadow. The Meaning of this image is the idea of having limitless abilities, almost supernatural and not being bound to something, being free.
