Panama is situated on the isthmus that connects North and South America. It is the southernmost country of Central America and shares borders with Costa Rica and Colombia. Its northeastern coastline borders the Caribbean Sea, and its southwestern coastline borders the Pacific Ocean.

The Technological University of Panama (UTP), also known as “La Tecnológica”, isthe state leading higher education in Engineering, Science and Technology.

The UTP was created by law on August 13, 1981.

Since its inception, the objective of the university has been to encourage research,develop outreach activities, technical assistance and to train individuals tocontribute to the current and future development of our country.

Civil and Industrial Engineering Accreditation by

the Central American Accreditation Agency for

Architectural and Engineering Programs (ACAAI)

UTP was the first university accredited in Panama

by the National Council of University Accreditation

of Panama (CONEAUPA).

The CEI mission is to develop projects, research and extension

activities that promote and generate engineering knowledge and

scientific application. CEI aims to improve the quality of teaching

and instruction designed for local industry, which contributes

directly to the scientific and technological development of the

country.

This centes conducts university research and carries put

extension activities designed to raise consciousness and the level

of general knowledge on water resources and environmental

problemas in Panama.



Agro Industrial Research and

Production Center

Established to become Panama´s leading public entity

in agroindustrial research, this center generates and

disseminates research as well as offers services for the

integrated development of the national agroindustry.

Innovation Center

Develops research activities in electric, electronics, mechanics,and industrial fields. It hosts an unit of energy saving (UAE),I+D+i unit, service production unit, a training center forrenewable energies (CECER), a center for innovation andtechnology transfer (CITT), and an astronomical observatory.

Develops research in areas of mobile technologies, gridand cloud computing, information security, andcommunications in general.
