Georgia Academy of Arts, Mathematics, Engineering and Sciences (formerly known as
GAMES) is an exclusive 2-year Dual Enrollment residential program that allows high
school students the opportunity to simultaneously earn a high school diploma from
their home high school as well as a possible associate's degree from Middle Georgia
State University (MGA), while experiencing dorm living (Anderson Hall) and integrating
within our inclusive university community on the Cochran Campus.

Dual Enrollment Benefits Include:
Access to expanded course offerings

Reduction in future college expenses
Less time to degree after high school
Dual Enrollment Considerations
Postsecondary grades become part of the
college permanent record and can impact future
college admission, scholarship eligibility, etc.
Some postsecondary institutions may prefer AP
over some college courses completed through
Dual Enrollment.
Not all college courses are transferable and
applicable to all programs of study.
Dual Enrollment may not be a good fit for all
students.
Students may have some expenses:
Course-related fees and materials required for a particular
course (lab fees, materials, supplies, etc.).
Fees that are optional to the student (parking, meal plan, room
and board, graduation fee, etc.).
Orientation fee, unless orientation is required by the
institution.
Lost/damaged book charges or charges for returning books
after the deadline set by the institution for the term.
Charges or fines incurred due to actions taken by the student
(parking tickets, library fines, etc.).
Tuition, fees, and book charges for courses not on the
Directory or taken beyond the 15 semester hour program limit.
Dual Enrollment Considerations
USG Dual Enrollment Admission
BOR Minimum Dual Enrollment Requirements:
Test scores (SAT, ACT, or Accuplacer*);
Minimum cumulative academic HS GPA of 3.0;
On-track for high school graduation;
On-track for completing the USG’s RHSC;
Exemption of all Learning Support requirements;
Student Participation Agreement form;
Proof of immunization required (on-campus classes); and,
GIT, UGA, and GCSU must verify U.S. lawful presence for
admissions and other institutions may request documents to assign
a residency classification.
*Not all institutions use Accuplacer for Dual Enrollment Admission

DE Course Selection
The Dual Enrollment Course Directory on GAfutures is the official list of
approved course alignments.
27,000+ approved alignments are currently in the Directory.
A college course must appear in the Directory to be funded.
A college course must be aligned to a GADOE course # or a unique DE
course # to appear in the Directory.
Colleges must initiate alignment requests.
High schools should contact the college if a new alignment is needed.
GADOE reviews all new alignment requests. The complete review
process can take several weeks (or longer).
Newly approved course alignments are published weekly.
Students are cautioned against enrolling in a course not in the Directory
(unless willing to pay for the course and HS credit not needed).

Unique Dual Enrollment Numbers Unique Dual Enrollment Numbers are high school course numbers
that include a letter to the right of the decimal.
The Unique Dual Enrollment Numbers serve several purposes.
1. Avoiding Duplicate HS Credit Student took 23.042 (Oral/Written Communication (Speech)) in high
school.
Student wants to take COMM 1110 (Public Speaking) through Dual
Enrollment.
COMM 1110 is aligned to 23.042 so would result in duplicate credit.
Since COMM 1110 is also aligned to 23.0A624, that number can be
used instead of 23.042.
Georgia Tech offers PHYS 3143 (Quantum Mechanics) but there is
not a comparable high school course for an alignment.
40.0B624 provides an alignment option so the course can be
included in the Directory.
2. College Course Has No HS Match
Students are prepared for college-level math once the college readiness
standards associated with Advanced Algebra/Algebra II are mastered.
