DevOps aims at shorter development cycles, increased deployment frequency, more

dependable releases, in close alignment with business objectives.

E-Learning

LIS Gateway is an implementation of the IMS Global Learning Information Services (LIS)

standard (version 2.0.x).

It is a mechanism that allows the Learning Management System to be integrated with any

Student Information System which supports the IMS LIS standard.

Interfaces with Blackboard – used by University of Johannesburg.

Pre-Installation of INT4

Requesting a quotation to upgrade the following will be requested:

• Do you intend acquiring new hardware for the upgrade?

• Do you have a separate server for the Test environment?

• Do you have a separate server for the i_Enabler (self-service)?

• Do you have any other environments other that the Test environment?

• If so indicate how many environments? E.g. Pre-prod , standby database, etc

• What operating system does your environment run on?

• If on Red Hat or Oracle Linux do you want Adapt IT to install this operating system ?


Installation of INT4

Integrator 4 is a complete new technology upgrade.

• Hardware must be compatible with operating system.

• Application server INT3 cannot run on the same server as INT4

• Operating System need to be reinstalled

– INT3 IAS EE was only certified for Linux 5x.

Database server

• Recommended that the operating system is upgraded if not on Linux7.

• Other operating systems need to compatible with Oracle 12c database.

• INT3 database can run with INT4 database


Installation of INT4

Test install

• Move test environment to production server (need space)

• New hardware or VM Server

• Cloud environment (depending on connectivity)

– Remove once live and install on INT4 Test server.

Production install

• Remove INT3 if no new hardware - Risk

• New hardware or VM server


Time Frames (Estimation)

No new hardware:

• Test upgrade – 13 Working Days ( 6 on site )

• Production upgrade – 11 Working Days (down time) & 1 day standby

New hardware:

• Test upgrade / Production prep – 17 Working Days ( 10 on site )

• Production upgrade – 4 Working Days (down time) & 1 day standby

Note: Above is only for test & production environments and does not include any other environments.

(e.g. Pre-prod, DR, etc … )
