DASR UAS – Unmanned Aerial Systems

• Certified UAS

– Intended for UAS operations where the operator expects to operate in all

airspaces and over all populations

– Linkage to same initial, continuing airworthiness DASR applicable to a

manned aircraft

• Specific UAS

– Intended for UAS operations where the UA is not certified to aircraft

airworthiness standards. Increased operational constraints and risk

assessment provide justification for safe operation. UAS may operate in

either:

• an Authority-published ‘Standard Scenario’, or

• under an Authority issued UAS Operating Permit

– Flexibility with initial and continuing airworthiness obligation set by the

authority

DASR UAS – Unmanned Aerial Systems

• Open Category

– Micro UAS (< 0.1 kg) shall:

• Have constraints on being operated line of sight, operated no higher

than 400 ft AGL, daytime, constrained location etc

– Very Small UAS (0.1–2 kg), in addition to the requirements and

limitations for Micro UAS, shall:

• not operate near controlled aerodromes (anticipate 3nm) and people

• not operate over populous areas

– Small UAS (2–25 kg), in addition to the requirements and limitations

for Very Small UAS, shall:

• only operate over land controlled by Defence.
