Default CGS Setup

Tool that visually helps researchers use the correlator.

Now has smaller screen resolution 1270x727. It now fits on Macbooks.

Example of how CGS might look after it has been set up by a user.

After the user is done making their adjustments, they click generate script.

Page 4: Upgrading the Correlator Graphical Setup (CGS) Software By Dalton Wu

Pop up window that contains the python script output.

Script now conforms to new script writer conventions.

The rest frequency for the Signal and Image sidebands will no longer occasionally be reversed.

Page 6: Upgrading the Correlator Graphical Setup (CGS) Software By Dalton Wu

The gray line you see at the center of each sideband is the block down converter filter cutoff, which users should avoid placing bands on.

Here, 3 bands are moved toward the center of the sidebands.

Now, when users try to generate a script with one or more bands on the cutoff, CGS will fire a warning for each of the bands. It will also instruct the user how to fix the problem.

CGS can now account for the Doppler Effect of moving high velocity sources.

It allows the user to either input a velocity or z redshift value.

Page 9: Upgrading the Correlator Graphical Setup (CGS) Software By Dalton Wu

Here the user inputted that the source is moving away at a velocity of 1,000 km/sec.

The spectral lines shift accordingly to a lower frequency due to the Doppler Effect.

And here is the velocity feature demonstrated again, except with a negative velocity of -1,000 km/sec, meaning the source is moving towards the observer at 1,000 km/sec.

The spectral lines shift accordingly to a higher frequency.

CGS now allows users to change bit configuration on a band by band basis.

Previously, the bit configuration was chosen at the start for all the bands, and could not be changed.

...And many more minor bugs were fixed as well!

I made a few general structural improvements to the code as well that will make it easier to improve CGS in the future.

Tested on as many different platforms as possible.

CGS version 1.5 is now ready to go!

Future Improvements:

-CGS will track hardware changes in the future, so that it always accurately reflects the state of the correlator at the site.

-CGS will allow users to link bands together so that they can be moved as one unit.

Conclusion
