EPC – improving on specs of the reference dwelling

Section C.1, TGD L(2011): ‘Table C1 in TGD L(2011) is used to define a notional reference

dwelling of the same size, i.e. same floor area and volume, and with the same area of

opaque fabric elements, i.e. wall, roof and floor, as a dwelling being assessed’

We suggest that a good start to ensure overall compliance is to make sure whenever

possible that each element is at least 60% better than the spec. used in Table C1. In that way

some of the ‘heavy lifting’ is shared.
