Business should be put in the driving seat and lead any

decision-making needed to meet London’s skills needs.

To make this work, the government must give the Mayor of London more control over skills funding

and policy levers.

Business needs to deliver more quality apprenticeships in an apprenticeship system that

supports rather than hinders them.

Apprenticeship starts have dropped

since the Apprenticeship Levy was introduced.

Fix apprenticeships to create a compelling offer

An Employment and Skills Action Plan for London

Our plan has three interlocking themes:

Business should play a greater role in preparing school and

college pupils for work.

Adult workers affected by job automation should be supported

to re-train.

A future where:

London’s jobs are filled by skilled applicants – now and in the future

Vocational and academic pathways provide the same

quality of opportunity for Londoners

Job automation does not lead to an increase in

unemployment
