The Library of Tripura University was first establish at Agartala during the year 1976 when it was functioning as a Post Graduate Centre of Calcutta University.

The CUPGC converted into full fledge University named Tripura University on 2nd October 1987.

At present Central Library has its own 3 storied building having 5415 sw. m. area & continued functioning from the middle of June 2005.

Tripura University converted into Central University on & from 2nd July 2007.

A Entry Gate Register for all Users is available at entrance of the library with Security Guard; Students are requested to make their Signature in the Register while entering and departing from library.

Personal belongings should be kept Outside the Library/in Property Counter at owners risk

No Valuable items viz., Money, Pass Books, Mobiles; should be kept in your bag while keeping them in Property Counter

Personal Books/ Checked Out Books are not allowed for consultation/reference inside the library

Mobile Should be Switched Off OR kept on Silent Mode inside library. Mobile Use is restricted in Reading Areas.

Library will not be responsible for loss of any of above articles.

Monday - Friday Library Opening Hour :10:00 AM Closed Issue/Return Counter : 5:30 PM Library Closing Hour : 8.00 PM Saturday & Sunday 11:00 AM – 4:00

PM(Only for Reading & Reference)

Library will be closed on National & other University Holidays Only.

20 01 Year The loan period may be shortened by the librarian, if the books are on special Demands.

Books given for loan period may be renewed for the further period, if no other users has reserved the books

A member can reserve the book, which is on loan, by the given prescribe format in the library.

Contractual/Guest Faculty

An overdue charges of 0.50 paisa per day per volume will be charged at the time of returning the books after the due date to all students.

Loss of book by the borrower should be replace to the circulation counter immediately to avoid the fine, Further the borrower shall either replace the book within the 15 days or have to given 7-times of the cost of the book.

If the book of a multi volume set is damaged or lost, the member shall be liable to replace the whole set of pay 7 times of cost of books.

Identity card is must while visiting and using the library. Readers shall not write upon, damage, or make any mark

upon any book, journal or magazine, or other material belonging to the library.

Borrowers must satisfy themselves about the physical condition of the book before borrowing. Otherwise they will be responsible for any damage at the time of returning.

Books borrowed on a particular day will not be accepted for return on the same day.

Books taken out for Reading or Reference from the stack shall be left on the table and not to be merged on the shelves.
