A. Quick Start Information

1. The website for Turnitin is: http://www.turnitin.com

2. Your Turnitin account is created once your class has been created in Turnitin. As an

OUHK student, you DON’T need to create the Turnitin account yourself.

3. Your Turnitin account is your OUHK email address (e.g. s1234567@ouhk.edu.hk)

(Please DON’T change to use non-OUHK email address. Otherwise, your submission

will not be recognized by your instructor for non-OUHK email address)

4. You have to assign the password for your Turnitin account. Please refer the email

(subject: Log in to Your Turnitin Account) sent form Turnitin.com in your OUHK webmail

mailbox to create your password.

5. If you cannot find the Turnitin email in your OUHK webmail mailbox and your Instructor

has informed that your class is ready, you may try Section E: “Reset password”.

6. After you have assigned the password successfully, you may proceed to Section 2: “First

Time Login”.

7. Turnitin will check each assignment against each other. Please do not upload the same

documents to different assignments. Otherwise, your result will be 100% similarity.

8. The submitted document could not be deleted without the approval of your instructor.

Please make sure you have uploaded the correct document before submission.

9. Each submitted document (and its report) has a unique Paper ID. If your instructor

requires you to submit your Turnitin report, you should refer the report from the

assignment of your Class.

10. Turnitin.com is not a repository for your documents. Please make sure you have kept

the original copy of your document.

B. First Time Login

1. Please access the Turnitin.com at http://www.turnitin.com and click “Login in”. Then

input your OUHK email address and your password, click “Login”:

2. You will see the following Welcome Message:

3. Fill in the information and then click “Next”:

4. After reading and understanding the User Agreement, then click “Continue”:

5. You then login your Turnitin account successfully:

C. Upload Assignment

1. After login your Turnitin account, click the Class you are going to submit your assignment.

In this example, it is the “1704_ABCA345F (Group 1)” class:

2. You will see the Assignment Name. In this example, it is named as “First Assignment”,

just click “Submit”:

3. Input the Submission Title (suggested to add your student ID in the title), click “Choose

from this computer” to select and upload the file:

4. You will see the file is under processing.

5. It shows a confirmation message after processing. The document could not be deleted

after submitted. Please make sure you have uploaded the correct document before clicking

“Confirm” to continue:

6. Your document is confirmed uploaded and please click “Return to assignment list”:

D. Download Report

1. The Similarity will be shown in a percentage (e.g. “100%”) after Turnitin.com completes

the checking:

2. You can download the Report by clicking the “%” as shown:

3. The viewer window will be opened:

4. Click the download button as shown in the red arrow:

5. Click the “Current View”, your Report will be downloaded as a PDF file:

E. Reset Password

1. Please go to www.turnitin.com -> click “Log in” -> “Forgot your password” link:

2. Then fill in your OUHK email account and your last name:

3. You will receive an email from Turnitin.com in your OUHK webmail mailbox. Please refer

the instruction to assign your new password.

F. Other Information

1. Information on Turnitin for students is uploaded to the student portal:

www.ouhk.edu.hk -> Current Students -> Learning Resources -> Turnitin
