OBJECTIVE:
Objective of this document is to provide the guidance for using the Attendance application.
SCOPE:
This manual describes all the features of Attendance application.

Open the application SAMS – STUDENT
ATTENDANCE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
Take Attendance Process
LOGIN through your Net
Id and Password If Class is
scheduled at
Login Time
It will show ‘No class
scheduled for now’
It will show the list of registered
students for that course If ‘Initiate’

Three options present-
Option 1 - Select Present

Navigate ‘Summary’
option to mark previous
attendances.
User can also take attendance though
automatic process.
Follow the steps ->
STEP1 – First ask student to connect
their gadgets with Wi Fi only.
STEP2 – Click Initiate button coming on
top right
STEP3 – Ask students to Login the
application and Submit the attendance.
STEP4 – Press F5 to view the current
attendance status
STEP5 – Once the students are done
with the attendance, Select “Stopped”to
stop the attendance. After stopped
students will not be able to mark the
attendance.
SAVE – Select Save

HOW TO OPEN THE APPLICATION?
First User has to open link “snulinks.snu.edu.in” >> Here all the SNU applications will be shown >> Here User to select the
attendance application ‘SAMS – Student Attendance Management System’

LOGIN
Selecting the application, User will get the option to Login where User has to provide their specific ‘Faculty Net Id’ and
‘Password’ and click Login button to Login the application.
Once the User Login, User get the following options -
Take attendance, Add Extra Class, Summary, Change Class Schedule, Assign TA and Student Attendance Report.

Take Attendance

This is the automatically generated page which shows the list of all registered students with the option to take attendance.
This option to take attendance on ‘Take Attendance’ page only comes at the time of Class either it shows a message ‘No
Class is Scheduled for now ’
If it shows the list of registered students, then we have two process to take attendance-
1. Automatically
2. Manually
HOW TO TAKE ATTENDANCE AUTOMATICALLY?
STEP1 – First ask students to connect their gadgets with Wi Fi only.
STEP2 – Click Initiate button coming on top right
STEP3 – Ask students to Login the application and Submit the attendance.
STEP4 – Press F5 to view the current attendance status
STEP5 – Once the students are done with the attendance, Select “Stopped”to stop the attendance. After stopped
students will not be able to mark the attendance.
STEP6 – Select ‘Save’ to save the attendance
STEP7 – Select ‘Submit’ to submit the attendance. Once Submit, User will not be able to change attendance.

HOW TO TAKE ATTENDANCE MANUALLY?
Here we have 3 options –
OPTION 1
STEP1 - Select Present All or Absent All. Once all the students are marked Present or Absent, then User can change the
status for slected students as Present or Absent.
It saves the User’s time.
How ?
Suppose all the students are Present and only 2 students are Absent. So first User can mark Present All and then search
only for 2 absent students and change their status to Absent.
STEP2 – Select ‘Save’ to save the attendance
STEP3 – Select ‘Submit’ to submit the attendance. Once Submit, User will not be able to change attendance
OPTION 2
STEP 1 - Select the ‘Absent’ and ‘Present’ for all students one by one.
STEP2 – Select ‘Save’ to save the attendance
STEP3 – Select ‘Submit’ to submit the attendance. Once Submit, User will not be able to change attendance

OPTION 3 – UPLOAD ATTENDANCE / DOWNLOAD EXCEL REPORT
STEP 1 - First User has to download the Excel Report through ‘Download Excel Report’

STEP 2 – Mark the attendance Present or Absent in the Excel and save it.

STEP 3 – Upload that Excel through ‘Upload Attendance’ option.
Choose File >> Upload
Different fields on Attendance page –

Change Button – This option is to change the details of the class.
Initiate Button – This Button is to initiate the attendance. After initiate, students will be able to mark attendance.
Stopped Button – This button is to stopped the initiated attendance. Once stopped, students will not be able to mark
attendance.
Registered Students – This is the total number of registered students in the class.
Total Present – This is the total number of Present students in the class.
Total Absent – This is the total number of Absent students in the class.
Total Misc. – This is the total number of students in the class that are applying proxy attendance (students not present in
the class)
Additional Student (View Detail) – This is the total number of additional students added manually by User with the ‘Add
Additional Student’ option.
Search – Here User can search any student with Id and name.
Save – This option is to save the attendance.
Submit – This option is to submit the attendance finally. Once Submit User will not be able to change attendance.
Student Id – This is the Id of the student.
Name- This is the name of the student.
Present All / Absent All – This option is to present or absent all students.
Attendance Remarks – This is the remarks of proxy by student.
IP Addr / AP MAC Addr – This is the Ip or AP MAC address of the students gadgets by which they mark attendance in
automatic process.

Submitted On – This is the attendance submitted date.
Status – This is the status of student attendance whether Absent or Present.
Add Additional Students – This option is to add additional student in the class if any. Provide student Id and select ‘Add
Additional Students’ button to add additional student.
Students Leave List – This is the list of students who are on Medical Leave or On Duty Leave. This is the automatically
generated list from Dean’s office. Faculty should mark the Absent for these students.
If No Class Scheduled , then it will show the page like below -

Add Extra Class
This is the option to Add Extra Class by User. Here User has to provide –
Course – Here User has to provide the Extra Class Course.
Course Component – Here User has to provide the the Extra class course component.
Date – This is the date of the extra class.
Class Room – This is the class room for the extra class.
Start Time – This is the start time for extra class.
End Time – This is the end time for etra class.
Here one more option is also given to User “Send email to students for this extra class”. If User selects this and Submit
the extra class details, a mail is send to every student for the extra class registered in that Course.

Summary
Summary provides User the facility to view and modify previous classes attendance.

Here if User selects any Class, it opens the attendance details of that class where User can mark and update attendance
manually of previous classes if anyone missed.

Change Class Schedule
This is the option to Change the Future Class details.
Select the Course, Component and date of the class which User want to change >> Click ‘Check Present Class details’
>> It will show the Class Details if any avaialble for the provided Course, Component and date.

So in Class Details, User can select the Change Class room, Change Start Time, Change end time, Change Class Date
and select ‘Change Class Detail’ to change the class schedule as provided.
Assign TA
Here User can assign TA(Teaching Assistant) to the Course. After which TA will be able to take Attendance for the
assigned class.
User has to select ‘Course and Component’ for which User wants TA and provide ‘TA Net Id’ to whom User wants to
make TA and select ‘Add TA’ to add the TA in the provided Course and Component.

Student Attendance Report
Here User can view the Student attendance Reports.
Provide Course, Component and select ‘Get Student List’.
List of students with attendance status will be shown.

Dean’s Screen
Dean Screen is available only for Dean Login.
Here Dean can add Medical Leave or On Duty leave for the student.
First Dean has to enter student Id in ‘Enter Student Id’ textbox and then click Check Student button.
If student exists for the provided Id, then it will show Student Details and Leave Details.

In Student Details, it shows the Student Name and School-Degree.
In Leave Details, Dean has to provide –
Leave Type – Here Dean has to select the leave type whether Medical Leave or On Duty Leave from the dropdown list.
Start Date – Here Dean has to select the leave start date from the Calendar.
End Date – Here Dean has to select the leave end date from the Calendar.
Upload Approvals – Here Dean can upload the documents if any like Medical Certificate.
Remarks – Here Dean can provide remarks if any.

Submit – Click Submit button to submit the provided details.
Once submit, it will show the notification ‘Leave marked successfully’.
On the provided start date to end date, student will be shown on the Faculty attendance page in Student Leave list.
