compliance to national legislation & regulations
IPR-PFRD Act (NIPMO)

entrepreneurship
• Stakeholder management – interface with industry,
investors and funders

Who owns the IP @ UWC?
• IP owned by the university (UWC) – default position
The University owns all IP developed by Employees in the
course and scope of their employment at UWC and Students
in the course and scope of their registration.
• Ownership by external party – full cost
IP creation must be funded on full cost basis (no public funds)
before UWC negotiates giving up ownership

Obligations of IP creators @ UWC
• Disclose IP/inventions to TTO within 90 days
• before publishing or disclosing publicly.
• Seek prior institutional approval on all arrangements
regarding IP with an external party (e.g. collaborator,
industry partner, funder)
