Frightful Friday “Friggatriskaidekaphobia”
PartyFriday, February 13 from 9:30-10:30 AM
Seaville Tavern 29 New Bridge Road, Ocean View The mere mention of the word strikes fear even in the
hearts of the least superstitious and sends shivers up the spines of those who believe. And it’s coming soon! Friday the 13th, that is.
The Museum of Cape May County is hosting a Frigga-
triskaidekaphobia party Feb. 13 that will quell your fears of the fickled finger of fate pointing in your direction.
Join us as we tempt the powers of bad luck by walk-ing beneath ladders, gazing into broken mirrors and even having a black cat or two cross our paths. For those who believe one’s future is written in the stars, the evening will include card readings by psychic Annemarie.
Polar Bear Royal Family Crowning
Friday, February 13 from 6-8 PMLaCosta Lounge 4000 Landis Avenue, Sea Isle City
The Prince and Princess and King and Queen of the 2015 Polar Bear Plunge will be crowned.
Tap TakeoverFriday, February from 7-10 PM
Rio Station 3505 Route 9, Rio GrandeOn Friday, February 13 is a Tap Takeover at Rio Station
in Rio Grande. If you’re in love, bring your Valentine; if not, come drown your sorrows. There will be at least five CMBC brews on tap and, at 7pm, representatives from the brewery will join the party to mingle and hear what you think of their beer (as long as it’s nice). At 9pm, the band Stellar Mojo takes the stage. The whole shebang is part of Rio Station’s rebranding weekend, which means you can expect to see a brighter, spruced-up dining room and a whole new menu. “We like working with local businesses for events like this, of course,” says the restaurant’s Pur-chasing Agent Janis Quiggle, “but we’re also beer drinkers, and we simply like Cape May Brewing Company’s product. It’s exciting to have them in our business community.”

No Broadway Show is safe from his satirical produc-tion that pokes good natured fun at hit musicals and the legendary performers who starred in them. Shows to be spoofed include Les Miserables, Wicked, Mamma Mia,

Award Season Film – “The Theory of Everything”
February 17 from 6-8 PMAvalon Free Public Library 235 32nd Street, Avalon This is the extraordinary story of one of the world’s
greatest living minds, the renowned astrophysicist Ste-phen Hawking, who falls deeply in love with fellow Cam-bridge student Jane Wilde. Once a healthy, active young man, Hawking received an earth-shattering diagnosis at 21 years of age. With Jane fighting tirelessly by his side, Stephen embarks on his most ambitious scientific work, studying the very thing he now has precious little of - time. Together, they defy impossible odds, breaking new ground in medicine and sci-ence, and achieving more than they could ever have dreamed. The film is based on the memoir Travelling to Infinity: My Life with Stephen, by Jane Hawking, and is directed by Acad-emy Award winner James Marsh (“Man on Wire”). Stars Eddie Redmayne, Fe-licity Jones, and Tom Prior. Rated PG for suggestive material.

to share. Being a Chef was not always in the plan for Einhorn. He has a degree in Public Relations and Interpersonal Communications. After not finding a satisfying career in that field Einhorn made the switch to culinary after he found a passion in food.
Einhorn created small plate options that are easily sharable amongst friends and family. Our dish of the week is the Beach Plum Farm Ham Croquettes. These croquettes are served with Saffron Aioli, Grana Padana and Crispy Ham. This unique dish is one of the many small plate options available.

COURT HOUSE - The Middle Township Council on the Arts along with Avalon Golf Club will be hosting a weekend of Arts and Entertainment to ben-efit the Gateway Playhouse in Somer's Point.

The antidote to that per-sistent late winter chill is to take a long holiday during Presidents’ Day Weekend, Feb. 14-16 in Cape May, the nation’s first seaside re-sort. Enjoy a two-day crafts and collectibles show, food and wine events, a choco-late feast, ghost tours and trolley tours, and more, all sponsored by the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities (MAC).
There are few more en-joyable ways to warm up during winter than by tast-ing and appreciating fine wines. Expand your knowl-edge of wine as you learn to discern and appreciate specially selected wines during the Cape May Wine School class with help from a wine expert. The class on Sunday, Feb. 15 takes place
at 801 Washington St., at 1 p.m.
Indulge in nine courses of unique chocolate cre-ations, one more decadent than the next, during the Chocolate Lover’s Feast at 653 Washington St. This is a limited event so reserve early.
Cape May County vine-yards are winning awards and their wines are ready for tasting. Experience the unique flavors as you sip and swirl at your own pace on the Self-guided Wine Trail. The tour is offered on Saturday, Feb. 14, and Sun-day, Feb. 15, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Purchase tickets at the Washington Street Mall Information Booth, the Hill House office or the Carriage House Visitor’s Center at the Physick Es-
tate, 1048 Washington St., during hours of operation.
What’s brewing in Cape May? Some great spirits, as you’ll find out on the Self-guided Wine & Brewery Trail, which includes two area wineries. Take a tour at each stop and sample some of their products. Offered from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14 and Sunday, Feb. 15. Purchase tickets at the Washington Street Mall Information Booth, Washington Street Mall at Ocean Street, or the Hill House office or the Carriage House Visitor’s Center at the Physick Es-tate, 1048 Washington St., during hours of operation.
Taste while you tour! Learn how the grapes are grown and the process that turns them into delicious wines at 600 S Railroad Ave, Rio Grande. The tour includes a souvenir glass and gourmet cheese tast-ing on the vineyard-view crush pad. Offered at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 14 and Sunday, Feb.15.
Spend an afternoon at a local winery located at 711 Town Bank Road, during the Winery Cellar Tour & Tasting. Tour the vineyard to see how the grapes are grown, get an introduction to the winemaker’s art, and enjoy a barrel tasting with cheese, fruit, and a sam-pling of five to six kinds of wine. Offered at 3 p.m. Sat-urday, Feb. 14 and Sunday, Feb. 15. Purchase tickets at the Washington Street
Mall Information Booth or the Hill House office or the Carriage House Visitor’s Center at the Physick Es-tate, 1048 Washington St., during hours of operation.

Take the Plunge with Plungerhead Wines Cabernet Sauvignon and
Old Vine ZinfandelLooking for a great wine? Visit Gleeson’s Liquors before
heading into Sea Isle City for the Polar Bear Plunge! Their wide selection is sure to please both your palate and your wallet.
Featuring Plungerhead, California wines from the region of Lodi.
Cabernet Sauvignon pours a deep purple with a ruby tint. The Cabernet has notes of black cherry, molasses, mint and smoky oak and flavors of rich berry, currants, dried cherries and dill finishing with brown sugar and vanilla bean. It can easily be enjoyed with smoked or grilled poultry and meat or a hearty pizza.
Old Vine Zinfandel pours a dark red in color with notes of blackberry fruit, spice, tobacco, white pepper and straw-berry. Look for flavors of dried berries, molasses, toasted walnut and hints of mocha. This wine finishes with notes of dark chocolate, dried cherry, vanilla, hazelnut and oak. Enjoy with pasta in rich red sauce or barbecued red meats.
Stop in and sample for yourself on Friday, Feb. 13.
Check out these events in February & March.
(Feb. 13-15) For Your Valentine’s Weekend, the Greater Ocean City Theatre Company will present the Off-Broadway Sensation, “Forbidden Broadway’s Greatest Hits: Volume 1”. This family favorite “spoof” rolls into town for three shows, Feb. 13 and 14 at 7:30 p.m. and Feb. 15 at 2 p.m. at the Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace. No Broadway Show is safe from his satirical production that pokes good natured fun at hit musicals and the legendary performers who starred in them. Shows to be spoofed include Les Miserables, Wicked, Mamma Mia, Rent, Spa-malot, Annie and more. This production features fantastic professional talent and a memorable evening at the The-atre during Valentine’s time.
(Feb. 21) Baseball Fans! Did you know that 1915 was the first year the Phillies won the National League Pennant? I didn’t until baseball historian and author Bob Warrington called and told me so.
Bob will be in Ocean City Feb. 21 to tell us about how the team handled spring training one hundred years ago. It was a lot different from today. The First World War was underway. The team traveled to St. Petersburg not by train, not by plane but by boat. Spring Training was dangerous. Some players had to be hidden from the lynch mob. Bob will tell you why. There was a major storm, players almost drowned. The food was terrible. Pat Moran, the new man-
ager was a tyrant. Yet the Phillies persevered and won the National League Championship.
(Through February) Atlantic County Photographers are displaying Shore Images in the Ocean City Arts Center, 1735 Simpson Avenue. Photographers Loralea Kirby and son Zachary Kirby are displaying their photos in an exhibit called :”Take a Closer Look” There will be a “Meet the Artists” reception Feb. 13 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The photographers work will be for sale and would be ideal for a Valentines gift.
(March 28) The City’s second annual Mr. Mature America Pageant is set for March 28 at 7 p.m. in the Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace. The contest celebrates the experience, relevance and talents of mature men 55 and older. The Pageant welcomes singers, instrumentalists, hobbyists, story tellers, humorist, you name it.
Public Service Events(Now through Feb. 28) The Ocean City Board of Realtors
latest community Service project is the Food Is Love Food Drive to collect food including canned items, juice, micro-waveable pasta meals and more. Collection will include monetary donations as well as Shop Rite Gift Cards to be donated to the City’s Ecumenical Food Cupboard for local needy families.
