Best Project Awardin TA-201 MME Labin 2nd
Semester 2004-05
Work Experience:Undergone summer training for two months (May-Jun06) at Clariant Chemicals (India) Pvt. Ltd..
Studied the whole plant, prepared Process Flow Diagrams of each and every unit, thoroughly studied
the flash dryer unit and suggested some design improvements which have been taken into
consideration.
Academic Projects:
Rheological study of soft glassy materials (highly viscous petroleum products such as asphalt and
bitumen, cosmetic products etc.) and prediction of their long term properties from short durationexperiments (M.Tech Thesis, Sponsored byBhabha Atomic Research Center, Mumbai).
Guide: Dr. Y.M. Joshi, Department of Chemical Engineering
Designed and simulated a Di-Methyl Ether (DME)plant using HYSYS. Set up the control structure,
identified issues and tuned the strategy. Economic analysis of the plant was also done.Guide: Dr. Nitin Kaistha, Department of Chemical Engineering
Catalytic Combustion of L.P.G. using Non-Noble metal based catalysts. An experimental strategywas designed and implemented for optimization of the process.Guide: Dr. Goutam Deo, Department of Chemical Engineering and Dr. D.P. Mishra, Department ofAerospace Engineering
Poiseuille flow down an inclined plane. An alternate viscosity measurement model was proposed
and supported with experimental results. The proposed model predicted viscosity of water with only 5% error.
Guide: Dr. Animangsu Ghatak and Dr. Rajdip Bandyopadhyaya, Department of Chemical Engineering
