SKOKIE OFFERS NEW EXPERIENTIAL RETAIL AND ENTERTAINMENT DESTINATIONS

The Village of Skokie welcomes three exciting new venues, creating more

entertainment options within already established and growing business districts!

CMX VIP Dine-In Cinema (4999 Old Orchard Center) opened its six-screen luxury

movie theatres over the recent holiday season, offering high-end recliners, Dolby

Atmos sound system, gourmet dining with in-theater wait staff, and other movie

viewing amenities.

Ignite Gaming (8111 Skokie Boulevard) is expanding its Chicago-based, highly

successful, state-of-the-art video lounge/virtual tournament/café/bar concept to

Downtown Skokie this spring.

And later this year, Altitude Trampoline Park (ie. sports/7037 Central Avenue), the

world’s premier trampoline facility and fun center, is set to open at Village Crossing.

Playing in Skokie has never been more fun!

In late 2017, it was announced that Westfield, the owner of Skokie’s Old Orchard Shopping Center, is being bought by French property investor Unibail-Rodamco for $15.7 billion. The deal creates a company with 104 shopping centers in 13 countries and brings in a projected 1.2 billion visits a year.

Target opened its first ‘flexible format’ Chicago suburban store next to Skokie’s Dempster St. CTA Station in October. At 33,000 S.F., the new store contains a CVS Pharmacy, baby care items, kids’ apparel, toys, sporting goods, health and beauty products, home decor, and more.

Downtown Skokie is becoming even more alive with a variety of new mural installations, such as this one at the Skokie Theatre (7924 Lincoln Ave.), the largest outdoor mural completed by renowned street artist Sick Fisher.

Did you know? Skokie now ranks in Crain’s Chicago Business Top 5 “Best Places to Buy a House”, which reviewed Chicago suburbs on five different metrics so that readers can determine which neighborhoods or suburbs fulfill their requirements. Skokie placed in the top five suburbs when High Diversity, Low Crime, Solid Price Growth and Short Commutes were set as top priority, and ranked well above the average ranking in all five categories. To view the interactive article, visit www.chicagobusiness.com.

In September 2017, the Village of Skokie marketing team received an “Award of Excellence” from the City-County Communications and Marketing Association (3CMA) for Skokie’s summer 2016 “Skokie: The Urban in Suburban” regional marketing campaign. Colorful signs promoting Skokie appeared on select CTA station platforms, and special ‘Skokie wraps’ covered six CTA buses. Skokie’s award application was selected from hundreds received from 3CMA members all around the United States.

The Illinois Science + Technology Park (ISTP)’s new owners, American Landmark Properties, have produced a new marketing video featuring the Park’s attributes and amenities, including its proximity to Downtown Skokie, Oakton CTA station, Skokie Public Library and Oakton Community College. Check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LhQ13etooSM.
