New Copeland Scroll™ K5 Announced With CoreSense™ Diagnostics Technology
AACHEN (GERMANY), October 15, 2014 – Emerson Climate Technologies, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), is introducing CoreSense technology to refrigeration scroll compressors. This technology already equips Stream semi-hermetic compressors and enables users to diagnose compressor or system issues easily, either on-site or remotely, reducing system downtime.
Emerson Climate Technologies is now offering CoreSense as an option to the new Copeland Scroll Summit series compressors for medium and low temperature refrigeration applications. The technology integrates functionalities of modern refrigeration systems directly into the compressor. Protection and sensing devices come pre-installed with the compressor. CoreSense allows communicating with system controllers via the integrated Modbus® protocol, the need for installing sensor cables is reduced which supports system manufacturers to accelerate the system design and eliminates the potential for manufacturing errors. It maintains a data and alarm history together with compressor asset information such as model and serial number. Information is maintained in onboard EEPROM memory and can be accessed on-site or remotely.
The integrated compressor display provides status information through LED color and flash codes. With CoreSense Diagnostics the compressor turns into a maintenance engineer’s assistant and helps identifying failures before they occur and become fatal for the refrigeration system.
