PARISH BAPTISMS We welcome Florecita Morales & Brian

Yuqui into our Catholic Church!

OLMC Parish Financial Situation

(Cont’d) As explained in the last two bulletins, your Parish needs your help! As any other Parish, we have to be financially stable. No Parish receives financial aid, but it is our responsibility to generate the necessary income in order to cover our expenses. We are very fortunate to have a beautiful and large church, but, as anyone can imagine, so are also the expenses. We spend a lot in maintenance and utilities, and this cannot be reduced because we have old buildings. The main source of income is the Mass collections we receive during the Masses every weekend. The first collection is always for the general needs of the Parish, and the second collection is either for a specific need of the Parish (as noted on the envelope, for example “electrical bills”) or for an outside need (for example “the Catholic University of America” or “the Church in the Middle-East countries”). Therefore, if every parishioner could give just a little more in the collection basket, it will bring the total up and help make a big difference to better cover our expenses. Every week, the amount of the collections of the past weekend is published in the bulletin. How much should one give? Let’s listen to St. Paul in his letter to the Corinthians (2 Co 9:7): “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” God wants us to be cheerful! He cares for us more than we can ever imagine. And He is the one who recompenses us when we give with joy. Thank you so much! May God reward you abundantly for your generosity! (To be continued.)

The Pope calls us to pray the Rosary!

During this Marian month of October, Pope Francis invites all the faithful to pray the Rosary and thus to join in communion and in penitence, as the people of God, in asking the Holy Mother of God and Saint Michael Archangel to protect the Church from the devil. In addition, the Holy Father invites the faithful to conclude the recitation of the Rosary with the ancient invocation “Sub tuum praesídium”, and with the prayer to Saint Michael Archangel that he protect us and help us in the struggle against evil:

“Sub tuum praesídium” prayer:

We fly to Thy protection, O Holy Mother of God. Do not despise our petitions in our necessities, but deliver us always from all dangers, O Glorious and

Blessed Virgin. Amen.

Prayer to Saint Michael Archangel:

Saint Michael Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil; may God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and

do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl through the world seeking the ruin of

souls. Amen.

peligros, Oh Gloriosa y Bendita Virgen. Amén.

Oración a San Miguel Arcángel:
