Vol. XXXXVI September 2016 No. 9 From Our Director of Missions The annual WMU Fall Training seminar, held at the Hillview Baptist Church, featured training classes for age-group WMU leadership and a special training session for pastors. Guest speakers/facilitators for the seminar were former IMB missionaries, Preston and Brenda West. The Wests also conducted a special session for GA’s, sharing missionary stories from their most recent IMB post. The GA’s and RA’s from around the Aiken Baptist Association supplied approximately fifty school book bags which will be donated to children in Appalachia via the A.R.M. Bill Barker, director of the A. R. M., will be coming to the Mid-Valley Baptist Church to pick up the book bags and transport to the Appalachian region. This is a joint project of the SC Baptist Convention and the SC WMU. We need your help to reach our goal of 450 packets. If you would like for us to purchase the items, please send $7.50 per packet. If you purchase the items, you must use the list below which is approved by the SC Department of Corrections. NO SUBSTITUTIONS!! Packets and/or monies need to be in the Association Office by Monday, November 7th. Packets will be taken to Columbia on December 5th where a Christmas Card and Scripture Booklet will be added to each packet before they are delivered to the correctional institutions.

• One BLACK non-retractable pen (no wire clip and no other color pen)

• One writing tablet no larger than 5½” x8” (no wire bound or composition books)

• One Adult Toothbrush (individually factory-sealed, no multi-packs)

• Five First-Class #10 Stamp-Embossed Envelopes (from US Post Office)

• Two Rolls of Candy (LifeSavers, Mentos, Breath Savers type)• One 4 oz. to 6 oz. Bar of Soap (no travel size)• One 5.8 oz. or larger Toothpaste (no travel size)• 1 gallon size zipper bag
