RESPECT RESPONSIBILITY HONESTY

From the Principal’s Office,

Dear Parents and Carers,

As the end of term three draws closer I want to take the opportunity to thank the following people for the amazing

work undertaken during this current lockdown. Firstly I must acknowledge our education support staff who have

been fantastic in supporting students on-site since the commencement of the pandemic. Their work has enabled our

classroom teachers time and space to work with the many students who are at home. Thank you also to our special-

ist teachers who also have been in attendance to support our classroom teachers working remotely. To our class-

room teachers thankyou for your continued efforts to provide a quality education for your students during these

difficult times. Finally to all parents, on behalf of the staff I thank you for your ongoing support of our school. The

process of remote learning is indeed challenging and we commend our families for their efforts to support their chil-

dren at home. I trust everyone has an opportunity to relax and enjoy the forthcoming vacation. All the best and

please stay safe.

Facilities Update

Access to the BER: We currently have been granted permission to move some furniture into the BER extension. We

are still waiting on an occupancy permit which we are hopeful will become available before the start of term four.

The performing arts building is moving along ahead of schedule. The timber flooring arrived from America on

Monday and instalment will commence soon.

Ground works are nearly completed between the PAC and the main building and the fences will be moved possibly

this week to allow access to more play space, including the new sandpit.

Work is also moving along on the OSHC room and completion will be well in advance of schedule.

As soon as we can empty the green containers and have them taken away, Fairbrother’s will relocate their site sheds

so that work can commence on the oval redevelopment.

Head Lice Notification

Families are advised that head lice are active in our community at the current time. Please check your children’s

hair and apply appropriate treatment as required.

From the Principal’s Office Cont’d…

A new storage shed is planned hence soil tests need to be undertaken for the slab and once done, works should commence within the next four weeks. The alterations to the existing staffroom, principal’s office, Jake’s Office and entrance foyer on the main building are to begin next week.

Staffing

I am pleased to advise our community that Lindsey White will return from leave in term four and will be our Dis-abilities Inclusion Coordinator . This is a new initiative funded by DET to support a range of students who need additional assistance, in order to maximise their learning opportunities.

We Want our Parents/Caregivers/Guardians to Tell us What They Think!

A reminder to all parents who were recipients of an invitation to participate in the annual parent opinion survey that this survey closes on Friday 17th. The Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey is a survey offered by the Department of Education and Training that is conducted amongst a sample of randomly selected par-ents/caregivers/guardians. It is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, student engagement and experiences of remote and flexible learning. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies. Please, if you can, your feedback via this anonymous survey will be greatly appreciated.

OSHC Parent Payments. Are Your OSHC Payments Up To Date?

Parents and Carers are reminded that OSHC accounts need to be paid in full by the end of each term. This is most

important, as bookings may not be accepted for the next term if accounts are outstanding. If anyone is experienc-

ing difficulties with OSHC care payments please contact Russell Jeffrey to discuss your situation. All discussions

are treated in the strictest confidence.

Family Accounts

Please note family accounts have been mailed or handed out this week.

If you have any queries about your account please contact Loretta or Russell.

Lost Property

We have a number of items of plastic ware and some drink bottles in lost property currently. If you rec-ognise any of the items please either have your child collect them or advise the office so that we can hold on to anything until such time as you are able to come in. We will be moving them on after the holiday break if they remain unclaimed.

Likewise, there are a number of polar fleece jumpers in lost property if you are missing one.

Parent’s Club

Cookie Dough is now booked for delivery when we are back for term four -

Thursday 14 October. Apologies for any inconvenience, but this is com-

pletely out of their control! Lunch orders that were ordered for 20/8 will be

held over for the first week back in term four - no new orders will be able to

be accepted. Thanks for your understanding, it's been a tricky situation.

Any questions, yell out. That's it from us, any feedback or fundraising ide-

as, please send us an email on [email protected]

SunSmart Policy - HATS! HATS! HATS! HATS!

Grade Prep/One News

This week we have continued our theme for writing, ‘Minibeasts!’ Students have learnt about the specific

body parts in minibeasts such as; antennas, abdomen and the thorax. The students will construct a narra-

tive about minibeasts and learn to edit their work. In prep Smart Spelling, our word of the week is ‘swan’ and

we are learning that sometimes the letter ‘a’ can sound like the short ‘o’ sound. The grade one’s are learning

about the digraph ‘ch’ in words like ‘chair’. In prep numeracy, we have continued to connect number names

to numerals and quantities as well as continuing to investigate data. Grade one’s have undergone a measure-

ment and geometry assessment and have also continued to consolidate their knowledge of data.

We hope you guys have an amazing holiday and thank you again for your support during remote learning

this term.

Many thanks,

The Prep/One Team

Grade Two/Three News

This week we have been learning about gingerbread houses. We've researched their history and the tra-dition, bringing all our information together into a short Information Report. We then looked at how gingerbread houses were made and designed our own gingerbread house. We then measured up and created our own templates and either created gingerbread out of dough or out of cardboard. Using our understanding of shape, we then decorated our gingerbread houses. Fingers crossed for Friday as we stick the walls together and add the roof - What could go wrong!!!

We wish you a very relaxing, safe, and enjoyable holidays, before we come back with lots of energy for the final term of 2021!

As always if there is anything we can do, please don't hesitate to reach out to us over Dojo.

Take care,

Mr Riordan and Ms Roediger

Grade 4/5 & 6 News Finally we’ve made it to then end of a massive term! Everyone has been amazing in their commitment

and dedication to their learning this term, despite the challenges it has brought. This week has been a revision week for the grade 4/5/6’s. In reading we have looked at reviewing books, inferencing and creat-

ing comics. For writing, students have had free choice on the type of piece they wanted to write, looking

at the styles of writing covered this year. We have also practiced our editing and bumping up skills.

In maths, we have been reviewing measurement with students creating and designing their own Splash

Park. In integrated this week, we have continued our work on earth sciences through the exploration of

erosion. Finally, this week we ensured we kept our bodies moving with a bit of PE. Students made obsta-

cles and got involved in some of their favourite active exercises.

We wish everyone a wonderful and relaxing holiday. Rest and up recharge for an exciting term 4 ahead!
