We are pleased to announce that Dr. Frank S. Page will be our special Guest Speaker on July 14, 2013, at the Contemporary and the Traditional Worship Services in the Church Sanctuary!

Frank S. Page has been president and chief executive officer of the Southern Baptist Convention Executive Commi4ee since

October 1, 2010. He was president of the Southern Baptist Convention from 2006-2008.

Prior to moving to Nashville, Dr. Page served as Vice President for the Evangelization Group at the North American Mission Board (NAMB), Alphare4a, Georgia. He has also served as pastor for Taylors First Baptist Church, Taylors, South Carolina, and churches in Georgia, Texas, and North Carolina for the past 34 years. In Dr. Page’s last two churches, he was able to lead those churches to transformation and growth. Both Warren Baptist Church and Taylor’s First Baptist Church more than doubled in size and began missions and ministries which truly impacted the region and beyond. Dr. Page has also been an interim pastor at two churches since his taking the position in Nashville -- First Baptist Church, North Augusta, South Carolina, and First Baptist Church, Jackson, Mississippi. Dr. Page loves churches and loves to help churches regain a God sized vision.

Dr. Page was born in North Carolina and educated at Gardner Webb University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. He is recipient of the Bachelor of Science degree with honors as well as the Master of Divinity and Ph.D. degrees. He is an author and has traveled extensively and spoken on every continent.

Dr. Page is married to the former Dayle Gibson of Huntersville, North Carolina. They have three beautiful daughters and are also blessed to have three grandsons.

What a wonderful opportunity for OVBC! Be sure to a4end!

Two cars waited at a stoplight. When the light turned green, the first driver didn’t notice. The woman behind him pounded her steering wheel and yelled. When the light turned yellow, she honked, made an obscene gesture and cursed. Hearing the commotion, the man looked up and accelerated through the intersection just as the light turned red. The woman ranted at missing her chance to get through.

Suddenly, she heard a tap on her window and looked up to see a policeman. He told her to get out and place her hands on her car. The bewildered woman was hustled into the patrol car, booked at the station and placed in a cell.

Eventually, the original officer returned and apologized for the mistake. “I noticed your behavior,” he said. “Then I saw the ‘Follow Me to Sunday School’ bumper sticker and the Christian fish emblem. Naturally, I assumed the car was stolen.” — taken from The Newsleer Newsleer, Vol. 35, No. 5, May, 2013

IMPORTANT

STUDENT MINISTRY

DATES:

4

► FUSE! Every Sunday morning at 11:10 am in the new building at 7202 Kings Highway!! FUSE is an exciting worship experience with relevant teachings.

► Sunday Morning FUSE Groups meet in the New Building at 10:05 am, right before FUSE.

► A New Series during FUSE: “Breathing Room”: We live our lives so busy and fast-paced that when summer arrives, we bolt. Go on hiatus. Disappear. And we gear up for our next relentless season of marathon-running. But our continued lack of margin increases our stress and shortens our tempers. It makes the years fly by, spent on things that, in the end, we don't even value or love. Instead, we sacrifice the things we do. It can even affect our relationship with God because there's a connection between our willingness to create margin and our faith in Him to fill those gaps. What if we used this summer of rest to prepare ourselves for the upcoming season of chaos?

► Meet at the Beach is back! Every Tuesday at 10:30 am, students are to meet at the new building. We'll walk straight down 73rd Avenue to our tent. Bring a bagged lunch, your Bibles, bathing suits and plenty of sunscreen!

► Fantasy Lake Trip! We’re going the weekend before school starts. Meet at the church at 9am. Sign up with Catherine Meeks ASAP!

► Fall Retreat at the Lake House! September 27-29, so the water will be warmer and the weather will be perfect! Sign up with Jessica Hogan.

We are going to Texas for 8 days & 7 nights! Eight days & seven nights for $865! Pick up a flyer in the Foyer or Church Office soon and sign up on J.O.Y. Bulletin Board. This trip is filling up, so don’t delay! Call Bill Bowman, 390.4258, as soon as possible, for more information. D/L for the final payment is August 1st.

On Sunday, July 14, please join us as we commission the Student Mexico Mission Team during our 11:10 a.m. Worship Service. The Team will be traveling to Mexico (July 15-22) in order to minister to the Mayan peoples in the Playa del Carmen area! They will assist Doug and Darla Millar, who are missionaries with a ministry there.
