PP Rtn. Gurdip Singh Deep introduced the chief guest who is a Columnist on Economic Issues and a Defence Analyst. Col. Dr. P.K. Vasudeva is a soldier who has done PhD in WTO. He has been Senior Executive, TATA Exports and Member of State Consumer Commission, UT Chandigarh. He is Founder Director of AIMT (KU), Past President Chandigarh Management Association, and former Principal -
Director of the College of Communication and Management and former Sr. Professor ICFAI University. Presently, he is an Expert Panelist IPR, NISCARE; Senior Vice President, National Adventure Club (India), Visiting Professor, Business School, PU, MG State Institute and National Defence College (NDC), New Delhi. He is Visiting Fellow, Guru Jambheshwar University, Hisar, Consultant Rajiv Gandhi Foundation and Columnist of Daily Post.

game changer reform for Indian economy by creating a common Indian market and reducing the cascading effect of tax on cost of goods and services. It will have a far-reaching impact on almost all the aspects of the business operations in the country, for instance, pricing of products and services, supply chain optimization, IT, accounting, and tax compliance systems.
Tax payers will have to be GST compliant. The changes would be substantial which requires proactive planning with a time-bound action plan.
Giving a roadmap of GST, Col. Dr. Vasudeva discussed the establishment of legal framework, preparation of IT Infrastructure, training of officials/staff, outreach with trade/industry and consultation with them.
Passage of the Constitution Amendment Bill from Parliament was completed in the first week of August 2016. Most of the legal formalities have been completed and remaining by 31st March 2017. GST will be the biggest reform in India’s indirect tax structure, and now it looks set to become a reality as the Government is committed to introduce GST by April 2017.
Administration of GST will be the responsibility of the GST Council, which will be the apex policy making body for GST. Members of GST Council will be Central and State ministers in charge of the finance portfolio.

After winning the inaugural match against Rotary Chandigarh Shivalik on 12th September 2016, it was the second match of the tournament for Rotary Club Chandigarh Midtown against Rotary Club Chandigarh Central on 16th October 2016. This is a unique tournament being held for a cause as each team contributes USD 1100 to the Rotary Foundation.
The match was played in a true Rotary spirit, with Chandigarh Central President R.S. Cheema taking charge of the fellowship. Both the teams enjoyed the match in a very sporting and cordial manner.
Chandigarh Midtown scored 267 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs. Rtr. Manish Kumar scored 117 runs and Rtn. Shashikant Adokar was unbeaten with 84.
Chandigarh Central managed to get 155 runs loosing 9 wickets in 20 overs, resulting in victory for Chandigarh Midtown by 112 runs. Our wicket takers were President Amarjit Singh (3), Rtn. Nitin Kapur (2), PP Deepak Sood (1), Rtn. Shashikant Adokar (1), Rtr. Chirag (1) and run out (1).
