100th Battalion ❖ june 4th, 1942: As the Battle of Midway occurred, 1,432 Nisei of

Hawaii National Guard had their weapons taken away

❖ boarded the U.S. army transport USAT under cover at night

without any warning to their families and loved ones

❖ Arrived in Oakland on June 12th, 1942

❖ All were assigned to a particular regiment (three separate

battalions altogether)

❖ 100th: not originally attached to a particular regiment

➢ named “One-Puka-Puka”

Japanese men, despite interment

South Pacific to alleged female broadcasters who spoke fluent English and were those of Japanese propaganda

propaganda, and was arrested of treason after Japan surrendered
