Reminder: Main principles

During the product certification process:

1) You have, in general, to refer to the design review of the product, in which case there are two possibilities:

(a) A type approval has been issued ( MPA Certificates Process)

(b) Drawings have been reviewed on a case by case basis

2) You may have to create a Product Design Review Project (PDR)

Case (a)

You have to make reference to the concerned valid MPA certificate .

Case (b)

You have

- to make reference to the approved drawing(s)

- to verify if there is any outstanding comments on the drawing(s)

( Pending Comment(s)* issued by LPO)

Reminder: Reference to the approved drawing(s)

•* In VPM the drawing of a product may be registered within one of the following types of Project:

• PDR (Product Design Review)

For drawings submitted by the Supplier/Manufacturer

• NC/NS (New construction/ Ship in service)

When drawing is submitted by shipyard or for minor equipment submitted by the Supplier/Manufacturer

• DWG (Drawing)

Exceptional cases where a separate project has been created

REMINDER:Pending Comments on a drawing

* There are two types of comment:

« To be resubmitted »

This type of comment can be cleared only by the concerned LPO

« To be dealt with»

This type of comment has to be cleared by BVN surveyor in charge of the Product certification or the NC surveyor when some action at Yard or onboard has been requested

Reference to the approved drawings: How to proceed

How to proceed: Reference to MPA certificate( Similar to previous version of VPM)

In « Design review » TAB, select « MPA reference »

Enter the applicant , then select the concerned MPA certificate from the proposed list

Note:

For MPA issued by BV only the Valid certificates can be selected

For MPA not referenced in VPM or the MPA not issued by BV, tick box « No reference found » then enter the external reference in the text field

How to proceed: Reference to the drawing(s)

Select “Project Reference”

We have two ways of selecting a drawing

A) Identification by entering directly a drawing number( when it is known)

B) Identification via the project number

In addition in case of a PDR, it may be relevant to refer to the complete project

How to proceed: Reference to the drawing(s): Directly through drawing number

A) Identification by entering directly a drawing number

Enter the drawing number then click “Search”

Select the drawing(s):

Only a “Reviewed drawing” may be selected ( With or without Pending comments)

B) Identification via the project ID

1) Select the type of the Project

according to the type of project, more pertinent information may be entered

2) Select “Search

3) Select “ Display drawing”, then select

1) Select the type of the PDR Project

2) Select projects

How to clear the Comments

How to proceed: Clear comments

Once the drawing has been selected. In case it is “Reviewed with pending comments) ( To be dealt with)

Then the BVN surveyor can clear the comment before issuing a certifiicate

3) Select “Clear” else “Answer” in case you want to communicate with LPO

1- Click Arrow

2- Click “Comment detail”

The possibility of creating a PDR project by BVN Surveyor has been moved from Product certification file /Design review to The DEsktop
