Show in the world, and has in one form oranother been the true ‘Jewel in the Crown’

of UK VW events, from its early days at Stoneleigh,the NAS Stoneleigh shows, the period of its residency atPeterborough, at Herts County Showground, and now atSanta Pod. The last few years at ‘The Pod’ have producedquite exceptional shows, and 2014’s event raised the baryet again. The ‘Zombie Fright Night’ theme, complete with‘West End’ big budget stage set that converted themarquee into ‘Jensen’s Cemetary’ was embraced by alland the show received critical acclaim from all whoattended.

2015 will continue the great tradition of VW Action deliveringthe absolute best event for the true VW enthusiast. VWAction is a show to which people are happy to bring theiryoung family members, and yet which provides full onentertainment for all of its visitors, whatever their age orinterests. 2015 will see a pastiche ‘Mods and Rockers’theme - with Saturday evening’s stage dressed as ‘SwingingSixties London’. Think ‘Mods’, ‘Rockers’, think ‘Twiggy’,‘Mary Quant’, think ‘Austin Powers’ or think anything‘Swinging Sixties’ - with Jensen D Groover playing 60sPop, Soul, Disco, Dance and Indie Anthems and the NarniShakers as Sexy Sixties Ladies, as well as live rock musicfrom the UK’s top Who tribute - ‘Who’s Next’ and with theFuellers Bar turned into a tongue-in-cheek ‘Secret DanceParty’ - Saturday night at Action will have something foreveryone. But more than anything else, VW Action is about thecars. Action is one of few shows which is truly abouteverything Volkswagen, and the event welcomes thearrival of every VAG vehicle with equal enthusiasm. Earlyand late Vans and Buses, ‘Old’ and New Beetles, Golfs,Polos, and every other representative of the water cooledrange, street cars, show cars and race cars - VW Actionreally is the best place for a true VW enthusiast.

Every year we hear from people who have brought ‘nonVW enthusiast’ friends as new visitors, who have beeninstantly converted to the cause. The fact that they areso readily accepted by everyone is testament to just howfriendly and inclusive the VW community is. Trademark has alsoplayed at events all over the UK and Europe - andhas supported the likes of Carl Cox and TheChemical Brothers at the V Festivals. Parodying the ‘secret raves’ of the nineties, forSaturday night we have converted the Fuelers barinto a Dance/House party with two great DJs.

First up is DJ Craig Cutup Jones. VW enthusiastCraig is the 2014/2015 BPM Freestyle Championand dance fans are in for a real treat if they catchhis set. Playing on the Friday night at this year’sBig Bang event, Craig absolutely smashed it - sowe invited him back for VW Action. He is swiftlyfollowed by Action favourite Niki Dimensionswho blew everyone away on the Main Stage atlast year’s VW Acion event.

Niki is also a Veedubber and started DJ’ing in1990 after saving a year’s worth of paper roundmoney to buy a dodgy set of Soundlab decks andPhonic mixer. Through most of the nineties heplayed at Labrynth, One Nation, Best of British(Jungle Raves) and Raindance and partied everysummer in Ibiza. Niki was one of the first DJs(along with Alias A) to play House Music onPassionFM around 1999 when the station waspredominantley UK Garage and 2 Step. Fastforward to the present day and you can still findhim on Passion every Wednesday night 8.00pm-10.00pm, playing the most luscious Deep Houseand Ambient. BIKE SHOW & SHINE ANDKIDS’ SHOW & SHINEThe Cycle Show & Shine, is open to anyone (allages) wishing to display their lowrider bikes, beachcruisers, or choppers (including derivatives). Sincea number of people use two wheels to cruise theevent venue, we have decided that in recognitionof the ingenuity and engineering skills on display,we’d like to assemble the best examples in oneplace. We will award two trophies - ‘Over 16s’ and‘Under 16s’ and there will be a preview lineup ofbikes on Saturday in front of the Main Marquee.The lineup will be reassembling on Sunday andjudging will ONLY take place on the Sunday.VW Action 16 and under Show & ShineSunday only - the VW Action Show & Shine willinclude a display of ‘vehicles’ owned by 16s andunder - VW owners of the future. Vehicles enteredfor this class can be bikes, pedal cars, scoots, cartssuch as radio flyers, tot rods - in fact any wheeled‘transport’. We have been highly encouraged by the

CONCOURS COMPETITIONSFEATURING ‘EUROPE’S MOSTBEAUTIFUL VW’VW Action has always been at the forefront of Show& Shine/Concours events. For many years Actionhas been a leader, not a follower. A few years ago,the show broke with the tradition of a class basedstructure, for one simple, very good reason. Toomany great cars were leaving without a trophy,especially in the most hotly contested classes. The‘Top Twenty’ format at Action has now been takenup by many other shows, as it is the means bywhich the greatest number of deserving cars arerewarded with a trophy.

The scale of the VW Action Show & Shine however,means that there are separate ‘top ten’ prizewinnersfor Custom Air Cooled and Water Cooled cars and‘top fives’ for Stock/Standard. The Show & ShineConcours takes place on Sunday, with Saturdaybeing reserved for the ‘EDV’ (Every Day Vehicle), atrailer queen free zone, exclusively for cars whichsee regular use on the road. None of the show carcompetitions at VW Action have an entry charge,so if your car attracts admiring glances, be sure toenter in the appropriate free Show & Shinecompetition.

EVERYDAY VEHICLE CONCOURSSaturday Morning Assembly - 2.45pm returnto Main Marquee for Trophy PresentationThe number and quality of entrants has increasedover the years to the point that we have had toincrease the number of trophies to 20, offering 10for WATERCOOLED vehicles and 10 for AIRCOOLED.

Our judges recognise the different considerationsinvolved in ‘daily drivers’. If your vehicle is youreveryday transport then it’s not expected to beflawless, so don’t be shy. In this competitionespecially, cars that are genuinely ‘dailies’ often winout over cars that are immaculate but arequestionably in ‘frequent’ use. We would notdiscourage anyone from taking part, but please, ifyou don’t win anything try again on Sunday. Entry inthis event is a MUST if you are proud of your VW.

3. Noise curfew is at midnight. Any unauthorised soundsystems will be confiscated - we’re not being Nazis -VW Action is a family event - please respect yourneighbours and let them get some sleep.

4. Help us to keep the site clean and tidy, please use thebins and rubbish bags handed to you upon arrival.VW Action Information Centre has more if required.

5. Stay out of restricted areas. Please observe signage.6. No driving on site (apart from arrival). No parking on

the roadways. All exits and access points must bekept clear.

7. Please keep valuables locked in your car or on yourperson. Sadly, large events attract scumbags too.

8. Medical assistance can be found in the area adjacentto the VW Action Information Centre.

PODZILLA MONSTER TRUCK SHOWPodzilla will be crushing everything in its path onboth Saturday and Sunday, to give a few ‘tired’saloon cars a fitting end. It is a show absolutelynot to be missed. (No VWs will be harmed in thepresentation of this spectacle.) For thetechnophiles, The Podzilla Monster Truck is aChevrolet CK1500 body, powered by a methanolguzzling supercharged 502 cubic inch (8.2 litre)Chevrolet V8 developing 1350 horsepower. Heweighs in at around 10,000 pounds.

CAMPERVAN COOKOFFSunday NoonThe Campervan Cookoff at VW Action 2014, sawRussell King taking the ‘Campervan Masterchef’title. The marquee was pretty packed, and the VWAction Cookoff was a huge success, enjoyed byall, but particularly by the Judges. It is a ‘Ready,Steady, Cook’ style competition, where contestantshave to cook up a gourmet meal in their campers,with all contestants being provided with the sameingredients for a maximum of 4 competitors/teams.To take part this year, you will need to haveregistered at the VW Action Information Officebefore entries close on Sunday at 11.00am. Youwill of course need your own Campervan withcooking facilities. Please remember to have plentyof cooking gas.

RADIO CONTROLLED DRAG RACINGThis has been a resounding success at recent VWAction shows. Open to anyone to come along andexperience the excitement of Drag Racing only inminiature (1/10th scale to be precise), from all agesand skill levels.Signing on will be from 10.00am Saturday only- with racing commencing from 11.00am. Thetrack will be set up in the Monster Truck Arena.

BRAD’S CANCER FOUNDATION HOOPLA STALLIn 2009 many people bade farewell to the ‘Chop Shop GangsterCar’ in their own way, ‘giving it a whack for Brads’, which helpedthe show raise a substantial sum for the charity and 2010 saw‘Brad’s Buckaroo’ raise more money as folk tried to stack the mostboxes on the roofrack of a Bug (along the lines of the MB GamesBuckaroo game.) In 2011 we had a ‘Pirate Treasure Hunt’ and for2012 NAS Events supplied/donated a ‘Grease’ Peep-Thru’ PhotoBoard which was a major success. We continued in a similar veinfor 2013 with the Superman and Wonder Woman Peep-Thru’ PhotoBoards and last year’s ‘Zombie Skull’ Coconut Shy was a hugesuccess. For 2015, VW Action have provided a ‘Hoopla Stall’meaning every £1 donated goes to Brad’s Cancer Foundation.
