WALLINGTON Primary School NEWSLETTER

Principal: Leigh McLaren School Council President: James Watson

Good Bye and Thank You This is my final newsletter and I want to thank everyone for their best wishes and kind words. The decision to finish has not been an easy one. I will be on leave for the rest of the year and then retire at Christmas time.

Over the seven years that I have been here, it has been a privilege to work closely with so many great people. I have enjoyed my time here. I want to say that Wallington is fortunate to have a great staff who are dedicated to, and passionate about education. It has been an honour to have worked with them all.

Finally to the parents and students, I wish you well for the future and thank you for supporting the school and me. I leave with the knowledge that the school will grow from strength to strength and this is due to everyone having that “sense of community’”. Mr Glen Lauder – current Principal of Oberon South Primary School will be taking over. Please extend to him a warm welcome as he settles in next term.

End of term arrangements The students will be dismissed at 2:30 pm 1:30 pm Lunch 2:00pm Bell to come inside 2:10pm Assembly 2:30 pm Dismissal Parents are asked to ensure that arrangements are made to have the students picked up at 2:30 pm.

Curriculum Day Last Thursday, teachers spent the day discussing assessment and in particular the Fountas and Pinnell Benchmarking. The day incorpo-rated giving teachers further experiences with the operation of the bench marking and the use of running records. Jill Murray and Jack Stevens ran the session.

PARENTS & FRIENDS SCHOOL & COMMUNITY NEWS

Host Families and Exchange Students A number of Exchange Students from Italy, France Germany, Japan, Austria, Norway, Sweden and Finland are hoping to come here this July and August because they wish to study here for a term, a semes-ter or even two (which would mean they would be with the family who chooses them over Christmas and the summer holidays) with a family that would like to experience the differences and similarities of having an extra boy or girl aged 15-17 stay with them while they enjoy the experience and feel it is worthwhile. I’m hoping that’s you and your family, so if you’d like to give it a try for a length of time, can afford an extra member of your family at mealtimes and have a spare bed, share room or own, please call Klaus Schumann on 0472 771 785.
