From the Principal, Mr Paul Miller
Hall AV UpgradeWe have just completed our Hall AV Upgrade to include improved sound and video equipment. It
sounds and looks fantastic and students have been enjoying this enhancement in their daily
Dance-Fit Sessions!
New facilities for studentsFollowing consultation in 2018 with students, sta and community, our school developed a
Whole-School Schematic Plan to strategically plan how our external facilities could look in the
future. We are currently in the planning phase for our primary oval upgrade (huge thanks to our
P&C for raising $80K towards the project), tness area, outdoor playground equipment and
amphitheatre to be included in the rst phase. We are hopeful for these projects to be completed
within the next twelve months!

Staggered DismissalsThank you for your outstanding support as we implement the guidelines around returning to
school including our new staggered pickup of students from our Lea Avenue entrance each
afternoon. Yesterday we had 225 students participating with all students in their respective
family vehicles and trac out of Lea Ave within a 25 minute period.
Parents can assist by:
If remaining in your car:
Arrive during your allocated times (Bradman/ Chappell 3:00pm & Cawley/Ford 3:30pm)
Continue to move your car forward when there is room
No U-Turns in front of the school
If waiting in the line in the carpark:
Ensure minimum 1.5 metre distance from other adults at all times
Move promptly to your car once united with your children.
A short video can be found on our website and FACEBOOK page which outlines our daily
procedure.
I thank you for your support especially at the departure gates. Please remember to maintain social
distancing as you wait for your children to leave the school grounds.
If at all possible, walking to and from the school would assist with trac congestion.
Reminder - It is important that children travelling on the school buses tap on and o with their
Opal cards for each trip.
Have a great week,

Positive Behaviour for LearningAt Wamberal Public School, we are safe, respectful learners. This week, all students have been
learning about being safe, respectful learners by wearing the correct school uniform.
Included but not shown - Summer dress, navy tights to accompany existing dress, sport house shirts (endorsedsports uniform until the end of 2021)
PBL Rewards Day is Coming!PBL Rewards Days are held at the end of each term. Throughout the term, students are
acknowledged for safe, respectful learner behaviour through collecting SRL tokens. At the end of
the term, students trade their tokens for rewards and activities of their choice.
Our Term 2 Rewards Menu has been developed based on feedback from our Student
Representative Council. A copy of the menu is displayed in classrooms and is also available in
the Notes and Forms section of our website.
We thank our Wamberal Public School P&C for their ongoing contributions to the rewards oered
each term.
Student Supervision Before SchoolPlease note that there is no supervision for students on the school site before 9:00 a.m., unless
they are enrolled in YMCA Wamberal. The school’s before school supervision roster starts from
9:00 a.m. and students should not be on school grounds until this time, when teachers are on
student supervision duty.
We understand that many parents may have commitments at work which require them to start
early. YMCA Wamberal operate a Before and After School Care service within the school from
7:00 a.m. every school morning. Please contact YMCA Wamberal for details and to enrol your
child in this service.
Alternatively, you may be able to make arrangements with friends or neighbours for the
supervision of your children before school. Whatever arrangements you make, parents and carers
remain responsible for their child prior to 9:00 a.m. when the school’s supervision begins. Please
do not send or drop your children o to school before this time. Thank you for your support in
this matter.
Student AttendanceWith the return to full time face to face teaching, all students are expected to attend school unless
they are unwell. If students are away from school because they are unwell, there is no expectation
that they complete school work. It is important that unwell students rest. Students who are
absent more than three consecutive days without a medical certicate are recorded as an
unauthorised absence. Please do not hesitate to contact the school if you require further support
with student attendance.
2020 Say No To Bullying Poster Competition
In March this year, our whole school participated in the Interrelate Say No To Bullying Poster
Competition. We are really excited to announce that Harry C from 3 Purple has been named a
nalist in the Australia wide competition. Further, Wamberal Public School has been named a
nalist in the schools’ participation section. The virtual awards ceremony is being held on Friday
26 June at 1:00 p.m, and we are planning on viewing the awards ceremony at school. Parents and
families may also wish to view the awards ceremony via this link. Thank you to Miss Jones for
coordinating this initiative and well done Harry and all at Wamberal!
OC Placement TestsOpportunity classes cater for high potential and academically gifted Year 5 and Year 6 students.
These classes help high potential and gifted students to learn by grouping them with other
students of similar ability, using specialised teaching methods and materials. Students who are
placed attend the opportunity class full time in Years 5 and 6. This is a two-year placement
program and parents are not able to apply for Year 6 entry only. For opportunity class placement
in 2021, students are ranked in order of academic merit based on the results of the Opportunity
Class Placement Test. The test will be held on Wednesday 16 September 2020.
If you would like to have your child considered for Year 5 opportunity class entry in 2021, you
need to apply online. Detailed instructions on how to apply online will be available from Tuesday
9 June 2020. at:
https://education.nsw.gov.au/public-schools/selective-high-schools-and-opportunity-
classes/year-5 The application website opens on Tuesday 9 June 2020 and closes on Friday 26
June 2020.
Have a great week everyone.

Library NewsLibrary News
Hello readers.
Congratulations to Mrs Gale on her retirementIt has been wonderful to have had Mrs Gale working in the front oce of our school and in the
Library for many years. She has always gone above and beyond the expectations of her roles in
caring for students and keeping the library running. Thank you Mrs Gale for everything and we
hope you will visit after COVID-19 settles.
I am pleased to welcome Mrs Deckker as our new part-time Library Assistant.
Indigenous Reconciliation WeekDuring Reconciliation Week we have shared the picture book Baby Business by Dharug woman
Jasmine Seymour. This deceptively simple book about a smoking ceremony for babies teaches
about Indigenous law and prompts us to think about the generations who were not able to share
the knowledge, rituals and language of their ancestors. All Australians can enjoy and learn from
this beautiful book.
Students can go the WPS VIRTUAL LIBRARY to view more information about smoking
ceremonies. Look under BREAKING NEWS / EVENTS - RECONCILIATION WEEK.
Wamberal Public School ‘Library Lunchtime’ —virtual Library spaceIt’s great to see so many students dropping in to the WPS VIRTUAL LIBRARY. Take a look at the
new resources added each week and choose from books, drawing, chess, videos, current events
and much more. Instructions about how to join and the code have been posted in students’
Google Classrooms and shared with class teachers.

Sorry Day and National Reconciliation WeekEach year, Sorry Day is acknowledged on the 26th May and National Reconciliation Week is
acknowledged from 27th May - 3rd June. It is a time for all Australians to consider the history
and culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. At Wamberal Public School,
our Aboriginal Education Team, our teachers and our K-6 students have been working together
to learn and commemorate the culture, shared history and achievements of all Aboriginal and
Torres Strait Islander communities and peoples, and explored how each of us can contribute to
achieving reconciliation in Australia.
Health AdviceWe have received advice that a student at our school has a case of Impetigo. I am writing to
provide advice and to ask that you watch out for the symptoms of Impetigo in your child,
especially over the next 3 weeks. If you have any concerns you should visit your doctor.
What should people who develop Impetigo symptoms do?
If your child develops symptoms (as described in the enclosed factsheet), please take them and
this letter to your local doctor as soon as possible. Your doctor can advise whether Impetigo is
likely and arrange for early treatment if needed.
Need more information?
For more information, please see the attached Impetigo Fact sheet, call your local doctor or call
the Public Health Unit on 4320 9730.
