Introduction

Wasabi recognizes that most of our customers use our service as part of a broader solution that includes a wide variety of storage applications, gateways, and other storage platforms. In support of our customer’s storage solution ecosystem, Wasabi continually tests and certifies a range of storage related products for use with our service. This application note describes how to use the CloudBerry platform with the Wasabi ser-vice.

You can configure the CloudBerry data management tool to use Wasabi storage. This document provides the required configuration and procedures to make the Wasabi S3 interface work with the CloudBerry applica-tion. This document does not describe details about the application installation, but instead assumes that:

The product being tested for interoperability with Wasabi is already installed in the user’s environment.

The user is familiar with AWS S3 interface concepts, and how to create a storage bucket and access/secret key set on Wasabi.

The information in this application note was verified by the Wasabi Performance and Certification Team (PACT) using the Wasabi service in July 2017 and CloudBerry Backup, latest version.

Set Up a CloudBerry Backup Plan

In CloudBerry Backup, you should see Wasabi as a cloud storage option:


Select Wasabi as the cloud storage option. Then, enter general information and be sure to include:

Access Key Enter the key that you created and copied in Step 2 of the Required Configuration, above

Secret Key Enter the key that you created and copied in Step 2 of the Required Configuration, above

Bucket Enter the name of the bucket that you set up in Step 1 of the Required Configuration, above

Enter a name for the backup plan and select the back source. When asked for advanced filter information, check the following option: “Do not backup system and hidden files.”

The following is an example of a backup plan.


Back Up the CloudBerry Plan to

Wasabi

Select the plan and back up to Wasabi. For example:

Select Wasabi for the cloud storage.

Enter general information and be sure to include:

Display Name Enter the name of the bucket that you set up in Step 1 of the Required Configuration, above

Copy folders and files from your desktop (on the left) to the Wasabi bucket (on the right). For example:

Click .

On the Welcome wizard, select Local or Cloud Backup.


Click on the Create Backup Plan Wizard.

Select Wasabi as the cloud storage option. Then, enter a display name (the Wasabi bucket), such as Wasabi-Test, and general information. Be sure to include:

Select the display name (for example, Wasabi-Test).

Specify a plan name and then select Simple Mode.

When prompted for a backup source, select the files and folders you want to back up. Select advanced, com-pression, encryption, retention, schedule, and notification options, as appropriate.


The following is an example of a backup plan.

Select the backup plan, such as Wasabi-Test, and start the bacup:


CloudBerry Mapped Drive Options (Windows)


Select Options on the CloudBerry menu.

On the Mapped Drives panel, click Add to add an account.


Create a new account and add information. Select Wasabi as the storage provider. Then, enter a display name (the Wasabi bucket) and the service point (wasabisys.com). Be sure to include:

Click Connect.


Set up the mapped cloud drive settings. Be sure to select the path for the bucket.


Save your changes and mount the drive.

Back up objects from the mounted drive.


CloudBerry Managed Storage


Select Amazon S3 Compatible for the storage.

Select Wasabi as the storage provider.

Set up an account by specifying the cloud storage credentials with s3.wasabisys.com as the HTTP and HTTPS endpoints. Be sure to include:

Set the storage limit. After CloudBerry indicates that your client software is ready, click Finish.

Work through the Online Backup Setup Wizard. Choose Common as the user mode. Click Next and the client software is installed on the system to be backed up. For example:

Enter your login and password on the Online Backup Account panel:

You are ready to back up to Wasabi.


Select Remote Management.


Set up the storage account (Wasabi) and indicate the bucket (display name). Enter the access key. For exam-ple:


Back up the objects. For example:


CloudBerry Dedup Server


Enter port and endpoint information on the CloudBerry Dedup Server General panel. For example:

On the Storage Account panel, select Cloudian as the storage provider.


Enter account information with s3.wasabisys.com as the service point. Be sure to include:

Bucket Enter the name of the bucket you created in Step 1 of the Required Configuration, above


Work through the CloudBerry Dedup Server Setup Wizard.


Wasabi

Work through the CloudBerry Dedup Server Getting Started Wizard. When prompted for a configuration type, select:

Create a new repository or use the existing one

For the storage provider, select Cloudian and enter the information (service point, access key, secret key, and bucket name) as described above.

Enter repository database and intermediate storage information. For example:
