If we lose “the heavenly vision” God has given us, we alone are responsible— not God. We lose the

vision because of our own lack of spiritual growth. If we do not apply our beliefs about God to the is-

sues of everyday life, the vision God has given us will never be fulfilled. The only way to be obedient to

“the heavenly vision” is to give our utmost for His highest— our best for His glory. This can be accom-

plished only when we make a determination to continually remember God’s vision. But the acid test is

obedience to the vision in the details of our everyday life— sixty seconds out of every minute, and

sixty minutes out of every hour, not just during times of personal prayer or public meetings.

“Though it tarries, wait for it . . .” (Habakkuk 2:3). We cannot bring the vision to fulfilment through our

own efforts, but must live under its inspiration until it fulfils itself. We try to be so practical that we

forget the vision. At the very beginning we saw the vision but did not wait for it. We rushed off to do

our practical work, and once the vision was fulfilled we could no longer even see it. Waiting for a vi-

sion that “tarries” is the true test of our faithfulness to God. It is at the risk of our own soul’s welfare

that we get caught up in practical busy-work, only to miss the fulfilment of the vision.

Watch for the storms of God. The only way God plants His saints is through the whirlwind of His

storms. Will you be proven to be an empty pod with no seed inside? That will depend on whether or

not you are actually living in the light of the vision you have seen. Let God send you out through His

storm, and don’t go until He does. If you select your own spot to be planted, you will prove yourself to

be an unproductive, empty pod. However, if you allow God to plant you, you will “bear much

fruit” (John 15:8).

It is essential that we live and “walk in the light” of God’s vision for us (1 John 1:7).

2 Corinthians 12:7-10

“7 Because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, for this reason, to keep me from ex-

alting myself, there was given me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to [a]

torment me—

to keep me from exalting myself! 8 Concerning this I implored the Lord three times that it might

leave me. 9 And He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in

weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast [b]

about my weaknesses, so that the

power of Christ may dwell in me. 10

Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with [c]

insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ’s sake; for when I am

weak, then I am strong. “

Our weakness should be prized as

making room for divine strength. We

might never have known the power

of grace if we had not felt the weak-

ness of nature. Blessed be the LORD

for the thorn in the flesh, and the

messenger of Satan, when they drive

us to the strength of God. This is a

precious word from our LORD's own

lip. It has made the writer laugh for

joy. God's grace enough for me! I

should think it is. Is not the sky

enough for the bird and the ocean enough for the fish? The All-Sufficient is sufficient for my

largest want. He who is sufficient for earth and heaven is certainly able to meet the case of one

poor worm like me. Let us, then, fall back upon our God and His grace. If He does not remove

our grief, He will enable us to bear it. His strength shall be poured into us till the worm shall

thresh the mountains, and a nothing shall be victor over all the high and mighty ones. It is bet-

ter for us to have God's strength than our own; for if we were a thousand times as strong as we

are, it would amount to nothing in the face of the enemy; and if we could be weaker than we

are, which is scarcely possible, yet we could do all things through Christ. – Charles Spurgeon

Sis Guia recommend this book to me last year. My heart

is not yet ready to really comprehend and accept the things

written on it back then, thus I only started to read it this

year. It is an eye-opener.

It started on giving a message to the readers, stating…

"These addresses on Obedience are issued with the very

fervent prayer that it may please our gracious Father to use them for the instruction and strength-

ening of the young men and women, on whose obedience and devotion so much depends for the

Church and the world. To all of them who read this I send my loving greeting. The God of all grace

bless them abundantly!"

Literally, Andrew Murray a South African writer, teacher and a Pastor led the reader to a

meaty course of obedience to God. One cannot help but get a notebook and a pen to write the

things too valuable to be left only in memory. He put into details the truth about obedience, the

very word most of us are trying to avoid. Obedience seems to be an inconvenience for attaining

some of the things most of us want, that’s what we thought... Through this book, I learned that

obedience is something needful. It is not about a checklist of rules that we have to do but a state

of who we should be, what our hearts should desire daily. Here’s a little sneak peek, why full obe-

dience to Him who loves us is possible and why I recommend this book to you…

“Is obedience possible?

Daily obedience to all that God wills of me is possible. On His

strength I yield myself to Him for it. But remember, only on one

condition. Not in the strength of your resolve or effort, but that

the teaching of the Spirit of all grace and power be your por-

tion. Christ, the obedience One, living in you, will secure your

obedience. Obedience will be to you a life of love and joy in His

fellowship.”
