In the Build Zone you must pay attention to what you are carrying out. You have to use tools correctly and use the correct ones.

The main thing you have to ensure your circuit breaker is working correctly and to test it before using it to make sure it works. If the circuit breaker does not work you need to throw it away. Also make sure the equipment you are using is plugged into the circuit breaker.

You must ensure that the working area is clear and free from clutter. This gives you plenty of room to work to make sure there are no trip hazards. There are no food or drinks allowed in the build zone, this is to stop spillages that can cause electric shock and can damage the hardware parts. Make sure that loose objects such as college ID or jewellery are tucked away to avoid it getting trapped in the computer machinery which can result in injuries.

You must ensure that long hair is tied back to prevent it from getting stuck in the machinery. You need to make sure that workbenches are clear to give you plenty of space to work. The wires in the work area should be tucked away to make sure no equipment gets tangled up. When in the build zone you must ensure that you wear an anti-static wrist band to lower the chance of getting an electric shock. You should wear it on the correct wrist furthest from your heart to lower the risk of the current passing through your most vital organs.

Wearing a white coat is important because it protects your normal clothing from dirt and contamination from unseen objects in the lab and stops sharp objects from injuring you. It is important not to distract the attention of another person, as you might cause him or her to be injured. If necessary to get the attention of another person, wait until it can be done safely.

It is important not to smoke in the build zone because there could be an electrical hazard which can result in a fire. You must ensure you use the correct equipment, for example a screwdriver because you can cause yourself an injury.
