From the Pastor’s Desk: My Dear Parishioners, Let us pray together….. in God’s house at St. Louis the King Parish…. for an increase of faith, hope and charity, that we may have within us the same sentiments as are in Christ Jesus. Jesus reminds us at the end of today’s gospel that prayer is something we can and should always do for those we care about as well as praying for our special needs. Last month I was so worried about McFadden Hall, because I wanted to remodel it, but the cost to do so was very expensive. I prayed to God and told Him that I needed His help and the help of the parishioners. Two weeks later, you responded to my appeal for help with such openness and greatness of heart that $15,000 was raised to complete the renovation of our parish Hall. Once again I was reminded of the Lord’s words that when you knock at my door, I will open it. When you ask me, I will give what you need from me. I know that God accepted my prayers for our parish need. I am so happy to announce that this Sunday we will reopen McFadden Hall to continue our many activities of praying, meeting, celebrating, and enjoying this space in God’s name. “Where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” I appreciate so much how generously you responded with donations to this project. Be assured of my prayer for you and your family with all my heart. The Lord will reward you in His Kingdom when you see him. At this time I would also like to say many thanks to Sisters Rachel Doerfler, Jean Perry, and Mary Ann Mahoney for their many years of service to God and to the people of our parish. CATHOLIC ACADEMY FOR LIFE LEADERSHIP (C.A.L.L.)

Bishop Thomas Olmsted invites all diocesan high school teens to join CALL to become leaders in building the Culture of Life, by preparing to live chastely in healthy, holy marriages or as priests/religious. CALL systematically teaches all life and relationship top-ics as a supplement the wonderful catechetical formation they receive in parish youth groups. CALL goes in-depth into such subjects as Theology of the Body, authentic femininity and masculinity, relationships, marriage, hu-man sexuality, bioethics, and college prep. In-depth sem-inars are offered 4 times a year for 3 high school years as well as a retreat and service component. Teens can earn a certificate of completion in a leadership program that they can list on their college and scholar-ship applications and have fun with teens from across our diocese while earning it. This program has received the imprimatur and endorsement from Bishop Olmsted and we hope you’ll support this effort. Often, people talk about their “comfort zone” -- staying clear of things that fall outside of this zone for fear it will require more of them than they are prepared to give. The comfort zone, however, has a danger all its own as we are lulled into complacency, inaction and satisfaction with the status-quo. Being comfortable is easy, but as stewards the easy way is not always the road we are called to travel. Disturb us, Lord, when we are too well pleased with ourselves; when our dreams have come true because we have dreamed too little; when we arrived safely because we have sailed too close to shore. Disturb us, Lord, when with the abundance of the things we possess, we have lost our thirst for the water of life. Stir us, Lord, to dare more boldly, to venture on wider seas, where storms will show your mastery; where losing sight of land, we shall find the stars. We ask you to push back the horizons of our hopes and to push us into the future in strength, courage, hope and love. Amen. Notas Del Sacerdote: Mis queridos feligreses,

Oremos… en la casa de Dios, en la parroquia de San Luis Rey… Por un incremento de fe, esperanza y caridad, la cual tenemos dentro, al igual que el sentimiento que hay en Cristo Jesús.

Jesús nos recuerda al final del evangelio de

hoy, que la oración es algo can podemos y debemos hacer por aquellos por los cuales nos preocupamos, al igual que por aquellos con necesidades especiales. El mes pasado estuve preocupado por el Salón McFadden, porque quería remodelarlo, pero el costo para hacerlo era muy alto. Ore a Dios y le dije que necesitaba su ayuda y la ayuda de los feligreses.

Dos semanas más tardes, ustedes

respondieron a mi llamado de ayudar con gran apertura y grandeza de corazón que $15,000 fueron reunidos para completar la renovación del salón de la parroquia. Una vez más me recordó de las palabras del Señor, que cuando “Toques a mi puerta, se te abrirá”, “cuando pidas, se te dará”.

Sé que Dios escucho las oraciones de las

necesidades de la parroquia. Estoy muy feliz de anunciar que este domingo re-abriremos el Salón McFadden para continuar con las actividades de oración, reuniones, celebración y disfrutar de este espacio en el nombre de Dios. “Donde dos o tres se reúnen en mi nombre, ahí estoy en medio de ellos”. Aprecio mucho la generosidad con la que respondieron para este proyecto.

sus familias con todo mi corazón. El señor les recompensara en su reino cuando estén con él.
