AGENERAL INFORMATION, PARTICIPATION

REQUIREMENTS & IMPORTANT DATES

MRSM YOUNG SCIENTIST

1. INTRODUCTION

MRSM Young Scientist is one of the MRSM Programme which is organized and carried out systematically beyond the curriculum specification outside the formal classroom. This programme is first organized in 1985 and in 2013 it is the 22nd programme organized by MARA Secondary School Division. This MRSM Young Scientist is a feeder fair to other national level competition such as Malaysian Technology Expo, Ministry of Science & Technology and Innovation Fair in rural areas and also international level competition such as INTEL International Science & Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF) and Expo Science International (ESI). The theme for this year’s programme which will be held from 25-28 April 2013 at MRSM Kuantan,Pahang, is ‘Nurturing a Culture of Scientific Excellence’.

2. OBJECTIVES

The objectives of the MRSM Young Scientist are as follows:

2.1 To develop an interest and a positive attitude towards science and technology and to encourage students to choose an education discipline that will enable them to become successful entrepreneurs in science and technology.

2.2 To develop scientific thinking skills as well as critical and creative thinking skills among students.

2.3 To give students the opportunity to organize and carry out investigationsscientifically to solve problems involving science and technology in their daily lives.

2.4 To develop science process skills such as experimenting, observing, measuring andcollecting data, predicting, controlling variables, analyzing, using space and time relationships, making hypotheses, making inferences, communicating, defining operationally and evaluating.

2.5 To be able to apply knowledge in science and technology through innovation activities for the betterment of mankind and the environment.

2.6 To give students the opportunity to show their abilities to the public. This will enable them to understand the relationship between science and technology and the implication of this relationship to the society.

2.7 To inculcate scientific attitudes and noble values of a scientist such as taking risks, perseverance, curious, rational, able to evaluate ideas and information , able to make decisions, open minded and intellectually honest.

2.8 To provide students the opportunity to work together using suitable ideas using the various science disciplines to carry out a project.

2.9 To inculcate positive competitiveness among students by exchanging ideas and experiences about their projects.

2.10 To face challenges in the new era such as explosion of knowledge and the development of communication technologies, globalization and social changes.

3 COMPETITION CATEGORIES

The competition is divided into 2 categories :-i) Science Projectsii) Additional Category

3.3 Science Projects 3.1.1 Project Characteristics

Science projects which will compete must involve research that has the following characteristics:i) Based on scientific thinkingii) Beneficial to the societyiii) Has good commercial potential

o Projects must be the findings of research conducted over at least a 12 month period.

o Projects must have never entered any competition outside of MRSM or the MRSM Young Scientist Competition at the National level.

o Projects can be continuations of previous projects but must be new and different from prior work.

3.1.2 Category DescriptionThe Science Projects are:-

i) ChemistryAnalytical chemistry, inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, physical chemistry, general chemistry and others.

ii) BiologyCellular and molecular biology, biochemistry, microbiology, medicine and health sciences, environmental analysis, environmental management and animal sciences.

4 PROCEDURES AND CONDITIONS FOR PARTICIPATION (SCIENCE PROJECTS)

4.1 Participation is opened to Forms 4 and lower form MRSM students4.2 Participation is accepted in the following categories:

Participating projects from any science category that is Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science and Engineering/innovation is 5 projects (minimum : 2 individual projects and maximum : 3 group projects) from any category. The maximum number of students per group project is two (2)

4.3 Cash prizes/ medals for every category will be given to a maximum of 5 projects which achieved marks exceeding the standard benchmark.

4.4 The overall winner will be awarded one challenge trophy. If the MRSMconcerned remains as the overall winner for 3 consecutive years the trophy will be given permanently to that MRSM. The previous overall winner will hand over the challenge trophy to the following host MRSM during registration.

4.5 Certificates of participation will be given to every participant.

4.6 Every project will be given one display area not more than 2 square metres. (Please refer to Appendix 7 for the guidelines on How to Create a

Successful Display Board)

4.7 Every project competing in the final round must :i) show a visual display of their research findings/ invention ii) have complete documents in the form of

a log book a research report and its softcopy (CD) an abstract

4.8 Display and Safety regulations must be obeyed adhering to the existing laboratory safety rules. Students are encouraged to obey the safety regulations given in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair: Rules and Regulations handbook.

4.9 The following items are not allowed in the display area: Gas source Flammable substances Poisonous and hazardous substances Sharp objects

5. PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS AND IMPORTANT DATES5.1 Selection of Project at MRSM level

5.1.1 Role of Head of Science Departmenta) Inform students early about MRSM Young Scientist programme by encouraging

and giving necessary advice so that they will participate in the competition.

b) Organize a Science Fair at MRSM level to select projects suitable to enter the MRSM Young Scientist Fair. A working committee must be set up and judges who are specialized in the subjects are appointed. The judging process of the projects must follow the

criteria given.

c) Ensure that each Science Project completes :

i) 2 copies of Participation Form (TS (1)) ii) 2 copies of Abstract ( Appendix 1) iii) Borang Keperluan Punca Gas (TS (2)) (if necessary)

d) Submit :

i) 1 copy of the Participation Form and 1 copy of the Abstract of each selected project to :

B STUDENT GUIDE

GUIDELINES TO CARRY OUT SCIENCE RESEARCH

1. Science Research and Process of ScienceResearch is a process by which people discover or create new knowledge about the world in which they live.

Questioning is probably the most important part of scientific investigation and is often followed by “if …then” statement. Questioning usually leads to experiments and observations.

Good scientist frequently uses a process to study what they see in the world. The following stages listed below will help you produce a good scientific experiment:(i) Be curious, choose a limited subject, ask a question; identify or

originate/define a problem.(ii) Review published materials related to your problem or question.(iii) Evaluate possible solutions and guess why you think it will happen

(hypothesis)(iv) Experimental design (procedure) - it is critical that only one variable is

changed at a time.(v) Challenge and test your hypothesis through your procedure of

experimentation (data collection) and analysis of your data(vi) Draw conclusion based on empirical evidence from the experiment.(vii) Prepare your report and exhibit.

2. Engineering /Inovation ProjectsNot all areas of study are best served by scientific based research. Because engineers and inventors have different objectives than those of other scientists, they follow different process in their work. “Scientist tries to understand how nature works; engineers create things that never were.” An engineering project should state the engineering goals, the development process and the evaluation of improvements. Engineering projects may include the following:i) Define a need or “How can I make this better?”ii) Develop or establish design criteria (could be more than one)iii) Do background research and search the literature to see what has already

been done or what products already exist that fill a similar need. What make them good and what makes them weak?

iv) Prepare preliminary designs and a materials list. Consider costs, manufacturing and user requirements.

v) Build and test a prototype of your best design.. Consider reliability, repair and servicing.

vi) Retest and redesign as necessary. Product testing.vii) Present results

3. Getting Started i) Pick your topic: Get an idea of what you want to study or learn about. Ideas

should come from things in your area of interest. What is going on in the world that you would like to know more about? Most importantly, pick a question or problem that is not too broad and that can be answered through scientific investigation.

ii) Research your topic: Go to the library or internet to learn more about your topic. Look for unexplained or unexpected results. Also, talk to professionals in the field.

iii) Organize: Organize everything you have learned about your topic. At this point, you should narrow your thinking by focusing on a particular idea.

iv) Make a time table: Choose a topic that not only interests you, but can be done in the amount of time you have. Develop a time line to manage your time efficiently. You will need time to fill out the necessary forms and to review the Research Plan with your sponsor. Certain projects will require more time because they need prior Scientific Review Committee (SRC) or Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval. Allow plenty of time to experiment and collect data. You will also need time to write a paper and put together a display or ‘board’.

v) Plan Your Experiment: Give careful thought to experimental design. Once you have a feasible project idea, write a research plan. This plan should explain how you will do your experiments and exactly what will be involved. Remember you must design your experiment so that it is a ‘controlled’ experiment. This is one in which only one variable is changed at a time. The results are then comparedto the ‘standard’ data you take originally before you change that one variable. Thus, you have designed an investigation with adequate control and limited variables to investigate a question. Also, in your experimental design, make sure you include sufficient numbers in both control ( if applicable) and experimental groups to be statistically valid. The experimental design should also include a list of materials. Once finished with the experimental design (called ‘procedure’) all students are required to fill out the appropriate forms.

vi) Consult with Your Adult Sponsor and get Approvals: You are required to discuss your research plan with an Adult Sponsor and obtain a signature of approval. In reviewing your research plan, you should determine if additional forms and prior approval are needed.

vii) Conduct your experiment: During experimentation, keep detailed notes of each and every experiment, measurement and observation in a log book. Do not rely on memory. Use data tables or charts to record your quantitative data.

viii) Analyze Your Results: When you complete your experiments, examine and organize your findings. Use appropriate graphs to make ‘pictures’ of your data. Identify patterns from the graphs. This will help you answer you testable question. Did your experiments give you the expected results? Why or why not? Was your experiment preformed with the exact same steps each time? Are there other explanations that you had not considered or observed? Were there experimental errors in your data taking, experimental design or observations? Remember, that understanding errors is a key skill scientists must develop. In addition, reporting that a suspected variable did not change the results can be valuable information. That is just as much a ‘discovery’ as if there was some change due to the variable. In addition, statistically analyze your data using the statistics that you can understand and explain their meaning.

ix) Draw Conclusions: Did the variable(s) tested cause a change when compared to the standard you are using? What patterns do you see from your graph analysis that exist between your variables? Which variables are important? Did you collect enough data? Do you need to conduct more experimentation? Keep an open mind – never alter results to fit a theory. If your results do not support your hypothesis, that’s ok and in some cases good! Try to explain why you obtained different results than your literature research predicted for you. Were there sources of error that may have caused these differences? If so, identify them. Even if the results do differ, you still have accomplished successful scientific research because you have taken a question and attempted to discover the answer through quantitative testing. This is the way knowledge is obtained in the world of science. Think of practical applications that can be made from this research. How could this project be used in the real world? Finally, explain how you would improve the experiment and what would you do differently.

4) Abstract:After finishing research and experimentation, you need to write an abstract. The abstract needs to be a maximum of 250 words on one page. An abstract should include the a) purpose of the experiment, b) procedures used, c) data, and conclusions. It also may include any possible research applications. Only minimalreference to previous work may be included. The abstract must focus on work done in the current year and should not include a) acknowledgments, or b) work or procedures done by the mentor

5) Project Data Book:A project data book is your most treasured piece of work. Accurate and detailed notes make a logical and winning project. Good notes show consistency and thoroughness to the judges and will help you when writing your researchpaper. Data tables are also helpful. They may be a little ‘messy’ but be sure the quantitative data recorded is accurate and that units are included in the data tables.Make sure you date each entry.

6) Research Paper:A research paper should be prepared and available along with the project data book and any necessary forms or relevant written materials. A research paper helps organize data as well as thoughts. A good paper includes the following sections.

a) Title Page and Table of Contents: The title page and table of contents allows the reader to follow the organization of the paper quickly.

b) Introduction: The introduction sets the scene for your report. The introduction includes the purpose, your\explanation of what prompted your research, and what you hoped to achieve.

c) Materials and Methods: Describe in detail the methodology you used to collect data, make observations, design apparatus, etc. Your report should be detailed enough so that someone would be able to repeat the experiment from the information in you paper. Include detailed photographs or drawings of self-designed equipment. Only include this year’s work.

d) Results: The results include data and analysis. This should include statistics, graphs, pages with your raw collected data, etc.

e) Discussion: This is the essence of your paper. Compare your results with theoretical values, published data, commonly held beliefs, and/or expected results. Include a discussion of possible errors. How did the data vary between repeated observations of similar events? How were your results affected by uncontrolled events? What would you do differently if you repeated this project? What other experiments should be conducted?

f) Conclusions: Briefly summarize your results. State your findings in relationships of one variable with the other. Support those statements with empirical data. (one average compared to the other average, for example). Be specific, do not generalize. Never introduce anything in the conclusion that has not already been discussed. Also mention practical applications.

g) Acknowledgments: You should always credit those who have assisted you, including individuals, businesses and educational or research institutions.

h) References/Bibliography: Your reference list should include any documentation that is not your own (i.e. books, journal articles, websites, etc.). See an appropriate reference in your discipline for format.

7) Visual Display:You want to attract and inform. Make it easy for interested spectators and judges to assess your study and the results you have obtained. You want to ‘catch the eye’ of thejudges and convince them that the research is of sufficient quality to deserve closer scrutiny. Most displays or boards have three sections and are free standing. For the most part, the displays are put on a table. Most judges get a chance to look at the board before the interviews. Make the most of your space using clear and concise displays.

Helpful hints for display:a) Current Year: Make sure the board reflects the current year’s work only. Prior

year’s data books are permitted at your project.b) Good Title: Your title is an extremely important attention grabber. A good title

should simply and accurately present your research and depict the nature of the project. The title should make the casual observer want to know more.

c) Take Photographs: Many projects involve elements that may not be safely exhibited at the Fair, but are an important part of the project. You might want to take photographs of important parts/phases of your experiment to use in your display..

d) Be Organized: Make sure your display follows a sequence and is logically presented and easy to read. A glance should permit anyone (particularly the judges) to locate quickly the title, abstract, experiments, results and conclusions. When you arrange your display, imagine that you are seeing it for the first time. Highlight your results using key graphs that show the

relationships of the two variables tested. Use the graphs to give a ‘picture’ of the data for your viewers. These graphs will provide an easier method of viewing the data rather that just seeing the recorded quantitative data.

e) Eye-Catching: Make your display stand out. Use neat, colorful headings, charts and graphs to present your project. Pay special attention to the labeling or graphs, charts, diagrams, photographs, and tables to ensure that each has a title and appropriate label describing what is being demonstrated. Anyone should be able to understand the visuals without further explanation.

f) Correctly Presented and Well-Constructed: Be sure to adhere to the size limitations and safety rules when preparing your display. Display all required forms for your project. Make sure your display is sturdy, as it will need to remain intact for quite a while.

Judging Guidelines As a general rule, judges represent professional authority to finalists. For this

reason, judges should use an encouraging tone when asking questions, offering suggestions or giving constructive criticism. Judges should not criticize, treat lightly, or display boredom toward projects they personally consider unimportant. Always give credit to the finalist for completing a challenging task and/or for their success in previous competitions.

Judges should keep in mind that the Young Scientist program is not only a competition, but also an educational and motivating experience for the finalists. The high point of the fair for the majority of finalists is their judging interviews.

Examine the quality of the finalist’s work, and how well the finalist understands his or her project and area of study. The physical display is secondary to the student’s knowledge of the subject. Look for evidence of laboratory, field or theoretical work, not just library research or gadgeteering.

Compare projects only with those competing at the Young Scientist program and not with projects seen in other competitions or scholastic events.

When research is conducted in an industrial or institutional setting, judges should determine the extent of the supervision the scientists give to the students.

EVALUATION CRITERIA

Suggested Evaluation Criteria for Judging While judges can use whatever method works best for them, one procedure they might consider utilizes a 100 - point scale with points assigned to creative ability, scientific thought or engineering goals (II a and b respectively), thoroughness, skill, and clarity. Team projects have a slightly different balance of points that includes points for teamwork. Following is a list of questions for each set of criteria that can assist you in interviewing the finalists and aid in your evaluation of the finalists’ projects.

I. Creative Ability (Individual - 25, Team - 20) 1) Does the project show creative ability and originality in the questions asked in the

approach to solving the problem? analysis of the data? interpretation of the data? use of equipment? construction or design of new equipment?

2) Creative research should support an investigation and help answer a question in an original way.

3) A creative contribution promotes an efficient and reliable method for solving a problem. When evaluating projects, it is important to distinguish between gadgeteering and ingenuity.

II. Scientific Thought (Individual - 40, Team - 35) (If an engineering project, the more appropriate questions are those found in II b , Engineering Goals.) 1) Is the problem stated clearly and unambiguously? 2) Was the problem sufficiently limited to allow plausible attack? Good scientists can

identify important problems capable of solutions. 3) Was there a procedural plan for obtaining a solution? 4) Are the variables clearly recognized and defined? 5) If controls were necessary, did the student recognize their need and were they

used correctly?

product? 5) Is the solution a significant improvement over previous alternatives or

applications? 6) Has the solution been tested for performance under the conditions of use?

III. Thoroughness (Individual - 13, Team - 10) 1) Was the purpose carried out to completion within the scope of the original intent? 2) How completely was the problem covered? 3) Are the conclusions based on a single experiment or replication? 4) How complete are the project notes? 5) Is the finalist/team aware of other approaches or theories? 6) How much time did the finalist or team spend on the project? 7) Is the finalist/team familiar with scientific literature in the studied field?

IV. Skill (Individual - 12, Team - 10)

1) Does the finalist/team have the required laboratory, computation, observational and design skills to obtain the supporting data?

2) Where was the project performed? (i.e., home, school laboratory, university laboratory) Did the student or team receive assistance from parents, teachers, scientists or engineers?

purpose, procedure, and conclusions? Watch out for memorized speeches that reflect little understanding of principles.

2) Does the written material reflect the finalist’s or team’s understanding of the research?

3) Are the important phases of the project presented in an orderly manner? 4) How clearly are the data presented? 5) How clearly are the results presented? 6) How well does the project display explain the project? 7) Was the presentation done in a forthright manner, without tricks or gadgets? 8) Did the finalist/team perform all the project work, or did someone help?

ABSTRACT

DEADLY WATERS : A TWELVE MONTH WATER QUALITY STUDY OF A NEWLY ERUPTED SULFUR SPRING AND ITS LONGITUDINAL EFFECT ON DIAMOND FORK CREEK, PHASE IV.

Shannon L. BabbAmerican Fork High School, American Fork, UT

Focus of study was to research effect of newly erupted sulfur spring on water quality of Diamond Fork Creek. Evaluations were conducted at six sites once a month for a period of twelve months, January through December 2005. Site 1 was one mile upstream of where spring entered Diamond Fork Creek. Site 2 was located where spring erupted from hillside. Site 3 studied effect of spring at its confluence with Diamond Fork Creek. Site 4, 5, and 6 were 1.3 miles, 2.5 miles and 5 miles downstream from the confluence.

Each site was tested chemically, physically and biologically using standardized evaluation tools. Chemical testing included dissolved oxygen, sulfide, pH, ammonia, and nitrate. Physical evaluation included temperature, turbidity, cross-section, flow rate, and riparian zone surveys. Biological evaluation included two macroinvertebrate surveys.

Results demonstrate the spring is having a negative impact on Diamond Fork. According to Utah EPA standards and/or guidelines for cold water fisheries, water quality significantly deteriorates and a dead zone was created. Sulfide levels at confluence reach toxic levels every month during study period and dissolved oxygen levels drop below acceptable levels for six months.

Water quality begins to improve chemically and physically within 1.3 miles, due to additional streams entering the water course. Unfortunately, the diversity of macroinvertebrates a key indicator of biological health-has not rebounded.

The only way to remediate the damage is stop the sulfur spring and allow water upstream to cleanse toxins from area and transport biological life back.

SOUNDS INTO SYLLABLES TM.,II : WINDOWS TO THE WORLD OF CHILDHOOD AUTISM

To assist children diagnosed with autism, I created a teaching system called Sounds into SyllablesTM . It is based on the premise that various musical components can assist these children with their linguistic and social development difficulties.

This project represents the second phase of the system in both method and application. Harmony is introduced with the creation of six 3 part harmonies that are linked to the universal emotions of happy, sad, afraid, angry, surprised and disgusted. Three 2 part harmonies have also been created and linked to the concepts of nouns, verbs and adjectives. These harmonies have been integrated into a children’s book (also in computer format) created specifically for the system and titled The Story of Little Bear.

It is designed to assist these children with face perception, recognition of emotional expression and to stimulate interest in the human face so as to improve their social interaction wit others. It also addresses sentence construction by teaching nouns, verbs and adjectives within a series of simple sentences.

The conclusion that musical harmony can assist these children with social and sentence construction difficulties can be drawn from the progress of the nine year old test subject. She has demonstrated enhanced face perception and recognition of emotional expression, wishing to imitate expressions on her own face by using a mirror. Her primary interest in the story is with the changing emotions of the central character Little Bear

SYARAT DAN PERATURAN PERTANDINGAN

KATEGORI COMPUTER SCIENCE

1. Penyertaan hanya terbuka di kalangan pelajar MRSM Tingkatan 1-5 sahaja

2. Setiap maktab perlu menghantar 1 orang wakil.

3. Semua syarat dan peraturan adalah tepat semasa cetakan dan penganjur berhak memindanya tanpa sebarang notis terlebih dahulu.

4. Para peserta hendaklah membawa projek yang telah disiapkan di maktab masing-masing untuk pertandingan.

5. Projek yang dibangunkan mestilah memenuhi kriteria-kriteria inovasi untuk kehidupan sejagat.

6. Projek yang akan dipertandingkan hendaklah dimasukkan dalam CD.

7. Peserta dibenarkan untuk menggunakan sebarang ’tools’ atau platform untuk membangunkan projek tersebut.

8. Projek yang dibangunkan mestilah boleh ‘autorun’ dari CD dan boleh dimainkan pada mana-mana komputer tanpa memerlukan perisian khusus.

9. Bahan projek juga mestilah disertakan dengan cover untuk CD bagi menyokong isi kandungan projek pada CD tersebut.

10. Kemudahan komputer dan LCD tidak disediakan.

11. Setiap projek hendaklah menyerahkan 2 salinan hard copy dan 2 salinan soft copy (CD) semasa pendaftaran peserta.

KATEGORI SCIENCE POSTER1.0 Syarat-syarat umum

1.1. Peserta terdiri dari pelajar Tingkatan 4. Penyertaan adalah secara individu atau berkumpulan yang terdiri dari 2 orang pelajar.

1.2. Poster adalah bertemakan “Nurturing A Culture of Scientific Excellence”.1.3. Setiap maktab hanya layak menghantar SATU penyertaan terbaik sahaja.1.4. Setiap penyertaan perlu disahkan oleh Pengetua maktab masing-masing

di bahagian belakang poster dan pada Borang Perakuan Peserta.1.5. Semua penyertaan mestilah hasil karya yang ASLI. Sebarang penyertaan yang diciplak

akan dibatalkan dan tidak diterima.1.6. Penyertaan akan diadili berdasarkan kriteria-kriteria berikut:-

Appendix 8PERTANDINGAN TUNAS SAINTIS MRSM

PERINGKAT KEBANGSAAN KALI KE-22, TAHUN 2013PANDUAN UMUM

1. Setiap projek yang bertanding hendaklah

a) mempamerkan bahan visual di atas ‘display board’b) menyediakan dokumen lengkap dalam bentuk

i) Buku Log / Catatanii) Laporan penyelidikan (2 salinan dalam bentuk hard copy dan 2 salinan dalam

bentuk softcopy)iii) Abstrak

Semua persembahan peserta samada dalam bentuk lisan atau tulisan visual hendaklah menggunakan Bahasa Inggeris. Peserta boleh menggunakan komputer bagi tujuan menjelaskan sesuatu konsep/idea/proses (cth menggunakan simulasi) semasa persembahan.

2. Setiap projek diperuntukkan ruang pameran tidak melebihi 2 meter persegiPeserta hendaklah menyediakan ‘display board’ yang dibawa dari maktab masing-Masing mengikut saiz yang ditetapkan (rujuk Appendix 7)

3. Item-item di bawah ini tidak dibenarkan di tempat pameran:-

a) Nyalaan apib) Bahan yang mudah terbakar / meletupc) Bahan yang beracun atau yang boleh memudaratkand) Bahan radioaktife) Objek yang tajamf) Sebarang haiwan yang hidup

4. Sebarang spesimen, kulat dan kultur tisu hendaklah sentiasa ditutup dengan kemas (sealed).

5. Kemudahan internet tidak disediakan di sepanjang pertandingan.

6. Bahan-bahan yang boleh menggangu keselamatan orang ramai hendaklah diawasi dengan rapi.

7. Bahan-bahan yang digunakan untuk binaan alat-alat mestilah kuat dan tahan. Semua bahan yang bergerak mesti dipasang kukuh. Bahagian yang digerakkan dengan kuasa elektrik mesti ditutup dengan pelindung.

8. Peralatan untuk persediaan projek perlu disediakan oleh maktab masing-masing, kecuali untuk bahan-bahan yang merbahaya seperti asid pekat.

9. Punca air tidak disediakan di tempat pameran. Peserta mestilah menyediakan bekas sendiri untuk projek yang memerlukan air.

10. Bekalan Elektrik:-

10.1. Semua projek pameran yang memerlukan penggunaan kuasa elektrik arus ulangalik mesti direka bagi bekalan 240 V.

10.2. Semua radas elektrik mesti dibina mengikut peraturan keselamatan Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB).

10.3. Semua radas elektrik mesti dibekalkan dengan kabel 3 lembar yang sesuai. Sekurang-kurangnya 8 kaki panjang dan dipasang dengan plag 13 A berfius.

10.4. Semua sambungan dawai elektrik mesti dipateri dengan betul dan bahagian yang membawa arus hendaklah ditutup dengan pelindung atau bertebat.

10.5. Punca elektrik disediakan dalam bilangan yang terhad. Peserta hendaklah menyediakan wayar sambungan sendiri.

11. Para peserta diingatkan untuk mengutamakan keselamatan ketika membuat persiapan projek.
