The Peak Academy - Home Learning Group: Skiddaw Date: 13 th July – T6 Wk 7 Subject: Art and Design Learning Outcome: Visually explore a chosen text. Illustrating written word. Use mixed media. Extend experience and understanding of composition. Learning Task: Create an A3 illustrated text. FIRST: Chose a text you have a personal connection with. This can be a poem, story, song lyrics etc. Make sure the language is appropriate! THEN: Think about the meaning of the piece and identify key elements within the text. For example, a certain word or phrase, something that evokes an emotional response from you, or makes you think. NEXT: You need to collect and create resources you can use to illustrate your text. You could draw elements, explore a range of lettering, collecting images from magasines, use photos etc. You may need to think about symbolism as well as literal representations. FINALLY: You need to present an A3 visual representation of your text. You can show as much or as little of the actual writing as you wish. The key to an effective piece is well throughout out composition (layout). So if you are layering pieces in a collage and drawing elements plan it out first. Move things around and see what works best. Below is an example of an illustrated version of the song Jar of Hearts by Christina Perri.
