5 Topic – RE - To establish our current understanding of Jesus’ morality

What things do you think that Jesus tried to teach people? It might be that you could remember some stories you may have heard in assembly (parables) that might link to a message. See if you can think of 9 things that Jesus tried to teach his followers.

Then see if you can rank your 9 teachings in order from most to least important using a Diamond 9. What was the most important, and why?

Following this, I would like you to work through the powerpoint and complete a slow write. There will be some video clip guidance available on Purple Mash as well.Tuesday-English-Slow-Write.pptx

5 Topic – History – To understand what the ‘Break from Rome’ was

Henry VIII is famous for lots of things, including having six wives! When he divorced and then married his second wife, he did something that was completely new – he rejected the Catholic Church and made his own. This is the Church of England, which we still have today.

Read through the PowerPoint to make your own decisions about why Henry VIII broke with Rome (which is where the Catholic Church was based) and write a diary entry from Henry’s point of view.Tuesday-History-PowerPoint.ppt

DAY

1 English - To plan a persuasive letterFollow the planning format, or plan in a way that suits you, to design a persuasive letter from one of either Romeo or Juliet’s friends to persuade them to see sense (to not follow through on their plan to secretly marry and try to escape their families).Wednesday-English-Writing-Plan.pdf

As well as planning out your argument, you should try to come up with as many words that you might use to exaggerate your writing (for example, ghastly, short-sighted, disastrous etc.).

At this point, you should just plan your letter out.

Extension/Challenge: If you are writing as Romeo or Juliet’s friend, then you might be speaking to them informally. However, Shakespeare wrote Romeo and Juliet almost 500 years ago (1596) – how can you make your writing reflect the old-fashioned (or archaic) language that you might be using? Plan for how you will do this.

1 English – To write a persuasive letter

Spend your session writing the persuasive letter that you planned on Wednesday. It should be at least a page of writing and must use some of the persuasive techniques that we have been working on.

Extension/Challenge: Use your plan to help you write in role as a friend of Romeo and Juliet, using appropriately archaic language.

5 Topic - Art – What techniques are used to add to visual stories?

Look through the powerpoint to spark some ideas about different ways to create effects. The PowerPoint focuses mainly on textiles (fabric, wool, felt, etc). Don’t worry if you don’t have any of that at home – instead I’d like you to think about how you could create different effects through junk modelling (recycling pieces of card and plastic to design an image).

Thursday-Art-PPT.pdf

Then have a go at creating the effects below. If you are junk

modelling, you could be cutting out and sticking card, or making your own stencils.

5 PE – To find a style of dance that works comfortably for you

This term, we are looking at dance in PE. At home, one of the best ways you can see a range of dances are through Just Dance videos (usually available on Youtube with adult supervision). Try a range of Just Dance videos and see if you can find some that you particularly like – is it the dance moves or the music that are most important to you? Make some notes about why you like your favourite dance, ready for next week!
