PRSC was formed on September 22nd in 2007 by the current Chairman, Chris Chalkley.

FORMATION

HISTORYStokes Croft was first known as “Berewyke’s Croft”, later taking “Stokes Croft” as its name after John Stoke, the mayor in 1364, 1366 and 1379. Stokes Croft began with the Stokes Croft Theatre in the first half of the 18th Century, located at bottom of Nine Tree Hill. By the time of 1775, the residents of Stokes Croft were carrying on businesses from their homes more often than not. Amongst these residents were carpenters, staymakers, a watchmaker, a baker and a butcher.A century later, shops had become inserted into some of the oldest houses of Stokes Croft. Stokes Croft then became a busy shopping area for the city of Bristol.
