It is hard to believe it has been 6 months since the installation of officers. Time flies by when you are having fun. Another busy month has gone by quickly. The Lodge hosted a successful parking lot sale on Sunday, September 8. Many people got to go home with new found treasures, including myself! Patriot’s Night was celebrated at the Wednesday night dinner on September 11. What a wonderful tribute to our country, veterans and the men and women who lost their lives on that day, 2001. Our Lodge Chaplin, Bob Niklewicz did a superb presentation on the history of the defense of our flag from the beginning to present day. The Sea/Boy Scouts did a nice flag folding ceremony. The evening was topped off with an “All American” meal. Many members came out to enjoy the evening and a good time was enjoyed by all. I was able to attend the District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler (DDGER) visits to the Novato, San Rafael, Vacaville and Petaluma Lodges. It is always a privilege and honor to represent the Napa Lodge at each of these visits, and an opportunity to observe how each Lodge is doing in the District. Most importantly, we were honored to host DDGER Brad Smith, his Grand Esquire, Dennis Hunter and wife Karen and Grand Auditor, Tim Borges and his wife, Mercedes. Thank you to Monica Farris, Cyndi Saucerman, Jan Schreiber, Tom Dawson, Judy and Len Fisher for the great preparation that was done to prepare for the visit. The audit went well, my time with the DD went well and we were all prepared with the documentation and answered with great confidence all the questions that were asked of us. We had a nice dinner and favorable remarks about the visit and a good Lodge meeting. Next activity for this month is the Gazebo concert on Saturday, September 28. September 8. Many people got to go home with new found treasures, including myself! Patriot’s Night was celebrated at the Wednesday night dinner on September 11. What a wonderful tribute to our country, veterans and the men and women who lost their lives on that day, 2001. “First Visit a Guest – Second Visit a Friend – Third Visit a Member”

Hello to All Members!!Summer is over and fall is here, even though the weather doesn't know it. The Lodge is gearing up for a very busy time. The music festival in the Gazebo will be over by the time you get this bulletin. Hope you went and enjoyed it. Our District Deputy visit on September 18th was well attended by our Lodge members and officers. We also had members from some other Lodges as well.Len and I traveled to San Clemente last weekend for President Tim Jaeger's visita-tion. There were ten Vice-Presidents there as well as us and we enjoyed the visit very

much. San Clemente is a beautiful area. We also visited San Juan Capistrano Mission and boarded a "tall ship" in the harbor. Very enjoyable!!On September 4th we initiated five new members: Aaron Blackmon, James Maglio, Kim Saunders, Steve Waller and Gene Kitchen. Please welcome them to the lodge. As always, if you have any membership concerns, please let me know. Fraternally, Judy Fisher, Lodge Secretary

Parking Lot Sale: We had a beautful Day for the Parking Lot Sale on 9/8/19. The sale was chaired by Roy White, Roy also did the BBQing for the day and many thanks to Cal, he was our volenteer bartender. I did a quick count of tables and I think there were about 25. Many thanks to all who brought their treasures and to all who did some shopping. I think this will be an annual event. Patriot's Dinner: Was held on 9/11/19. Our chaplin Bob Niklewicz read a short article regarding the high lights of the USA, important dates and memories. Bob followed his reading with a lovely prayer includeing thoughts about and remembering 9/11. Thank you Bob. We had a combination of both Boy Scouts & Sea Scouts attending. The scouts were joined by their leader Tony Zarate and persented a flag folding ceremony, very nicely done. Thank you scouts. The All American Dinner was delicous, thank you kitchen staff. This dinner was a sellout and well attended, thank you members. DD Visit and Dinner: Our DD Brad Smith started the evening with a meeting of officers and chairmen from #832. We then enjoyed conversations, cocktailas and appetizers, followed by a Prime Rib or Salmon dinner. We were happy to welcome Brad and his officers. The lodge meeting was held at 7:30 and was nicely attended. Gazebo Concert: We are all set for the Gazebo Concert. This was held on 9/28/19 and chaired by Monica Shepard. Hello Elk Members,We have had a request to participate in the Christmas Child shoe box program. I will be ordering small boxes to be filled with children's Christmas gifts and treats. They suggest small toys, stuffed animals and delightful things for kids. No candy, Liquids or toothpaste, this is due to custom issues. You can bring your box to the lodge and I will be delivering them to Napa Valley Community church on November 18th, 2019. They are requesting a $9.00 donation to pay for shipping as most of these boxes will be going to children around the world. You can put the $9.00 in an envelope and add it inside your box. You can pick up your Christmas

box at the lodge or you can use your own shoe box. Suggested gifts: Dolls, toys such as jump rope, cars, yo-yos personal items- combs, bar soap, school- crayons, note books, pencils - accessories - socks, hats, jewelry. These are just a few suggestion please feel free to add your own. Also, they encourage you to add a personal note, pictures or Christmas card. If you have any questions please call me at 252-2284.

CHILI COOK-OFFThe chili cook-off was another big success in part to the members and volunteers who helped with the whole event. Even though there was only 8 entries, everyone had very good chili. There could only be three winners. All the ladies that won had very great chili. 1st place went to Karen May. 2nd place went to Teresa Price. 3rd place went to Laura Kostelac. Peoples' Choice went to Laura Kostelac. Also, my many thanks to the following people for their donations for the event:  Dave Bridges, Sean Wickersham, Mark Phillips, Dave Lamp, Tom Solon, Tim Horton, The Green Door, Stones Sport Bar, Debbie Rodgers, Triton Truck Repair, Lawley Trucking, Dr. Scott Hendricks, Ron Solomon, Dave Taylor, Shackfords, Ranch Market and Travis Credit Union.Again, many thanks to all who made this a great event.Thank you, Roy White, Chairman

The Elks EarAs my hero would say "Good Grief" not sure how it happened, but the holidays are on the hori-zon. Halloween, Thanksgiving, my birthday, I'm not sure I'll be able to make it.  I don't even have my Christmas want list made yet. But rest assured the Lodge will fill up your spare time with a va-riety of events, even the Boys at the Bar are thinking of belting out a few tunes. Now is the time for you new members to get involved. We tend to forget to ask, but we do need help in all ar-eas. In March 2020, when our own Tim Jaeger has his Presidential Homecoming, we will need members in all types of committees. Come to a Lodge meeting to stay up to date and if you have an idea or a suggestion, toss it out there. Our District Deputy made his Lodge Visitation on the 18th of September and being he didn't put us on probation, we must have done OK. All of our Officers were present with their reports, both writ-ten and verbal. You should give some thought to becoming one of our officers this coming April. Now that I have got you all excited, I am going to check on the Boys at the Bar and see if their ren-dition of "Roll out the Barrel" has improved. We will talk again next month…
