Dozens of arrival assistants, the Residence Life staff, and the campus community make the move-in process incredibly smooth for resident students. You'll have lots of time to get settled in today. Let us know if there is anything you need!

Hospitality Tent Take a break and stop by the Hospitality Tent starting at 12:00pm, near the Campus Green. Enjoy a complimentary snack and/or beverage.

Inspiring! That’s the word that comes up most often when you ask students to describe their academic experience at Saint Rose. Our faculty and staff are deeply invested in the education and professional development of each student. This session provides an introduction to academic affairs and an overview of The Family Educational and Privacy Act (FERPA), a federal law that has two main purposes: It protects the student's education records against disclosure to persons outside the College and it ensures that students have the ability to review and, if necessary, correct information contained in their education records.

The Guide to College Writing @ 9:30am, Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium (campus map building #67)

Members of the College Writing Committee (CWC) will review the College’s custom publication, Strose Prose: Guide to College Writing. You will be shown how it will be useful (and required) for your ENG105 class and beyond that in classes for their liberal education courses and major. All students will receive a FREE copy of this required text!

Specific steps for developing your own spending plan will be reviewed. The 50-30-20 rule for determining fixed expenses, flexible spending, and financial goals will be applied in this session. A little bit of our time supports neighborhoods, nursing homes, shelters, community gardens and local social service organizations that do so much to respond to the needs of the people of the Capital Region. All are invited to be part of this great tradition! Hosted by The Golden Notes 7:30pm, Saint Joseph Hall Auditorium (campus map building #8) Ran'D Shine has wowed audiences with his brilliant presentation at the 44th Presidential Inauguration in Washington, D.C, as well as Capetown, South Africa. As one of the most sought after college performers he has also captured the imaginations of audiences from Hollywood to New York City for more than a decade. Stay after their performance to catch award winning comedian and impressionist Justin Rupple.

Justin Rupple is quickly becoming one of comedy’s fastest rising stars. He has appeared on national television, co-starred in a worldwide action film and won national comedy competitions. His voice has appeared in Spider-Man: Homecoming, The Fate of the Furious, and How to Train Your Dragon. Known around the U.S. for his impressions, he won Dana Carvey’s First Impressions, winning the $10,000 prize, and title of “One of the Countries Best Impressionists”. If you want more events like this, talk with Student Events Board about their programs, from comedians to semi-formal dances, to off campus trips. Clubs are not the only place on campus to get involved. Hear from Intercultural Leadership about socials, workshops, and ways to be connected on campus. $15 tickets (transportation, ticket, and food voucher to eat in the park included) on sale in Student Affairs (located in Events and Athletics Center) beginning Monday, August 26th. The gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday from 12pm, noon to 5pm. Crossgates Mall Have you checked out Albany's largest mall? It's only 4 miles from campus and has over 200 stores offering a wide variety of shopping, dining and entertainment. The mall includes a full size Regal movie theater and Dave & Buster’s. It's only a short bus ride away from campus, just catch the 10 West bound at Western Avenue and North Main Street. Emack & Bolio's Ice Cream Parlor & Coffee House, 366 Delaware Ave To get there, catch the East 114 bus at Partridge Street and Madison Avenue to Lark Street and Madison Avenue. Walk one block to Lark Street to catch the West 18 bus to 365 Delaware Avenue, the destination will be next door. Check out live music Saturday evenings from 7-10pm. Lark Street Lark Street is the center of Albany's city life. Businesses vary from great Mexican food at Bomber's Burrito Bar to Thai food at Sukhothai to coffee shops and a Ben and Jerry's. Lark Street isn't just about food either. Shops include art galleries, art shops, beauty supply, salons, gift shops, and clothing stores. There's always something to do on Lark Street. Visit The New York State Museum, 260 Madison Ave The NYS Museum is a great place to explore. Every year 12 new exhibits are put on display along with traveling exhibits from all over the country. Exhibits include everything from modern art to The September 11th traveling exhibit. Admission for the museum and carousel is free for everyone. There's a CDTA stop right in front of the museum. Hours of operation are Tuesday - Sunday 9:30am- 5pm.
