Off to Zone essential for a student’s future. Teachers are always willing to assist students in completing tasks- they only need to ask if they require further support.

This week is looking like it will be another busy week with lots of wonderful things happening at Windsor high, including ZONE X-COUNTRY, Year 12 Work placements (VET Catch-up), Year 8 Talk - Young People and Police, our program for aboriginal stu-dents in Year 7 and 8 -Mura Burrapur begins, as does our Yr 8 STRENGTH program which develops skills for students who are having difficulties fully engaging in school, ALLOWAH DAY(aboriginal acknowledgement), and our support unit IO/IS class start this week’s sport activity- Ten Pin Bowling. And finally I hope all our Mothers had a special Mother’s Day with their children spoiling them!

WEEK 3, TERM 2 Windsor High School

Having fun On a more serious note I would like to ask parents for their support in encour-aging the children in their care to complete assign-ments and homework on time. This becomes more important the older the students become, as all set work must be completed as a requirement of the Board of Studies Teaching Educational Standards (BOSTES) to attain a Record of School Achievement (ROSA) and the Higher School Certificate (HSC). A zero mark is awarded for all tasks submitted late, unless an illness/misadventure application has been made and supported. If students do not submit a task they will receive an N award warning, which is very serious, and can lead to students not achieving a ROSA or a HSC.

At Windsor High we pro-vide an educational ser-vice to ensure each and every student’s future suc-cess, and submitting re-

quired work on time is a skill

NSWRFS Cadet Program Eleven of our fabulous Year 9 students have under-taken to complete the RFS Cadet program at school during their Sport lessons. The program was first run by Mr Hawes at Windsor High 8 years ago and the program he developed is now being used in several

schools across the Hawkesbury. Over the next two terms the students in-volved will learn about bush fire and structure fires, equipment and vehicles, putting in hand lines, complet-ing hose drills, using fire ex-

tinguishers, assisting with casualties, using commu-nications and radios, and responding to different types of situations through practical scenarios. The team of students will have the opportunity to com-pete against other Cadet teams in a Field Day. Many volunteers from our Community generously give their time to bring trucks up to the school each week and assist in the training of our cadets. A big thank you goes to Peter Jones – of Kurrajong Brigade (and former WHS Science Head Teacher) and Cathy Jones - of Colo Heights Brigade, both of whom are attending every week to conduct the train-ing.

Students involved are: Keegan Muir, Jack Whitmore,

Axel Cropp, Annabelle Thompson, Ameysha Oliva-

res, Analyse Steele, Harrison Moxon, Reece Geyer,

Tiffany Johnson, Corey Dent, Matthew Cozier and

Ethan Clohessy.
