PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Dear All,

STUDENT WELLBEING FRAMEWORK

The NSW Department of Education has released Student Wellbeing Framework for Schools. This is an important landmark doc-

ument that sets the agenda for all NSW DE schools in developing and supporting the emotional, social, physical and academic

development of our students and I would encourage all members of the school community to read it. A copy of the framework

has been placed on the school’s website. The Student Wellbeing Framework provides an understanding for much of what occurs

at Lindsay Park; from the operation of the SRC and the Lunchtime activities to the Learning Support Program and all in be-

tween. The school’s current 3 year plan is strongly aligned to the framework and all teaching and non-teaching staff are current-

ly participating in professional learning on the implementation of this document.

TELL THEM FROM ME SURVEY

The students in Years 3 to 6 are about to participate in the next ‘Tell Them From Me Survey’. The survey will be conducted

shortly and a note concerning this has been sent home. The students in Year 6 have also been invited to participate in ‘The Mid-

dle Childhood Survey’ conducted by the University of New South Wales. A separate note concerning this survey was sent home

last week as well. All of the information gathered is confidential at the individual level, as a school we do not receive any infor-

mation that identifies individual responses, the information is provided to us in a compiled report format which provides valua-

ble data about our students, their needs and concerns and how they view their schooling.

INTERRELATE

Last week the school hosted the Interrelate Family Evening Program with two sessions ‘Where Did I Come From?’ (Years 3-6)

and ‘Preparing for Puberty’ (Years 5-6 and Years 3-4 at parent’s discretion). These workshops were very well received and at

the start of next Term the students in Year 6 will work with Interrelate again in a sex education program.

BOOK WEEK

Book Week is fast approaching, with the parade set down for Thursday 3 September and Mrs. Peggs is busy organizing the

event for us. Students are encouraged to come along as their favourite book / movie character or be part of the Big Top theme.

The Book Fair will be held on the first two days of September – Tuesday 1 and Wednesday 2, all sales of books will occur dur-

ing class time. The Parade will be on the Thursday of that week and a note has been sent home concerning that.

AFTERNOON BUS & WAIT LINE

From Monday of next week, the afternoon bus and student wait line is moving from our southern footpath in Thames Street to

the northern path. This will align the waiting lines with the ‘Kiss and Ride’ area and is closer to the bus zone.

NAPLAN

For the students who sat the NAPLAN 2015 ( Years 3 and 5), their results were issued on Wednesday 19 August 2015. If you

have any questions concerning your child’s results please make an appointment to discuss them with your child’s teacher.

Robert Cusack,

Principal

Don’t forget to collect your “EARN & LEARN”

stickers from Woolworths. This weekend Wool-

worths are giving double stickers for your shop-

ping. Please bring your stickers to the school of-

fice. The school receives great resources when we

redeem our stickers, so it is well worthwhile to col-

lect them.
