It has been wonderful to welcome our new Year 7 learners into school this week. They have settled in exceptionally well and are already showing us what great learners they are, their attitude is fantastic! I also had the pleasure of being at the Performance Achievement Awards night on Wednesday evening, again it was a reminder of what incredible talent we have here at Darton College as we reviewed both team and policy landscape. There will be significant budgetary challenges ahead and the need for all schools to consider how they will work with others to address these and secure improvement. My week ended interviewing 17 Specialist Leaders of Education and 4 School Direct students, gruelling but great to meet so much talent! My proud mum moments sealed my week with my eldest son securing his medical school elective in New Zealand and my middle son achieving a first at the end of his second year at University! Meanwhile the baby of the family (18) is currently on holiday with 8 other lads in Malia…I’m trying to blank that out! Have a good weekend! The levels of commitment, resilience and perseverance that learners, staff and parents have demonstrated this year are exceptional. I spent Wednesday of this week facilitating an event for other National Leaders of Education from across Yorkshire and the Humber. One of the key note speakers was Michael Pain who is a Director of Forum Education.
