Capital Campaign Begins Soon!! Bob Murphy and the parish Capital Campaign Committee meets Tuesday evening at 7:30 PM, in the rectory parlor, to discuss overall strategies for the stabilization of the temperature in our church year-round and suitable fundraising efforts. It’s all part of the continuing effort to take care of “the treasure” that is our magnificent, basilica-like church. * * * * * * * *

CHRISTIAN INITIATION (RCIA) The Road to Becoming a Catholic

Do you know someone who considers the Christian faith important, someone attends church regularly, but who has never been baptized? Maybe this someone was

baptized in another Christian tradition and wishes to become a Catholic … possibly yourself… The RCIA is also for those interested in Adult Faith Formation – people who have come to a point in their faith journey that they are ready to explore more of what their faith is about. Contact Gary Cushing at 212-787-0634. This year’s ses-sions resume this week, Wed., Sept. 21st , 7:30 PM. * * * * * * * *

Divine Murmurs Many Minds, Many Sources; Same God

Pray to God at the beginning of all your work that you may bring them all to a good ending. Xenophon * * * * * * * *

Formal Blessings Sep. 18th All of our CATECHISTS will be blessed at TODAY’S 9:30 Mass. Sep. 25th All of our LITURGICAL MINISTERS (Acolytes, Eucharistic Ministers, Cantors, Sacristans, etc.) will be blessed at EACH MASS. We do this at the beginning of the Parish Year to help everyone understand that there are many parts to the Body of Christ and each has his/her responsibilities. We bless them in God’s name and yours, and so glorify our God. * * * * * * * *

Your Child Can Serve Us! ACOLYTE TRAINING

Monsignor, accompanied by Kevin McKenna, Acolyte Chair, will soon begin training new Acolytes (Altar Servers) to serve the People of God at the Sunday Eucharist. This ministry is an adult responsibility we share with our boys and girls. If you think your child (GRADE 5 THROUGH HIGH SCHOOL) would be interested in becoming an Acolyte and serving the Sunday mass your family attends, please call Colleen at the rectory (212) 787-0634. Three rehearsals in the church are required:

11:30 AM SATURDAYS OR 4:00 PM SUNDAYS Oct 8th & 9th, Oct 15th & 16th, Oct 22nd & 23rd

Third Annual Blessing of Pets

In honor of Saint Francis of Assisi, we will once again meet on the steps of the church to bless animals of “all denominations” from 2:00-2:20 PM on Sunday October 2nd. This Gathering of the Creatures’ Choir is an exciting way of seeing and appreciating God’s many blessings. Please make sure each pet is leashed, caged or boxed so we will not have a “run-away” celebration. You don’t have to own a pet to enjoy this blessing; anyone may attend. Please tell your friends … especially the children. * * * * * * * * The Holy Trinity Contemporary Ensemble

Our Contemporary Choir, which sings and plays at Holy Trinity’s Sunday 5:30 Mass, is looking for NEW MEMBERS. If you are interested or would like more information, please contact the Rectory or speak with one of the members at the end of Mass. The Choir has long been part of the attraction of many of the younger parishioners to the 5:30 Mass.

+ Funeral Mass – Iris Okun +

A funeral Mass for long-time parishioner Iris Okun will be celebrated by Msgr. Thomas Leonard at 11:30 AM on Thursday, September 22nd. Many will remember that Iris was one of the first Lectors to be installed at Holy Trinity, and was in charge of the Lectors for several years. Before declining health left her homebound, Iris was very active in Holy Trinity and community affairs. A retired music teacher, she worked with the children’s music in our Religious Education program. Iris passed away at age 90. Parishioners are encouraged to come to the Mass of Christian Burial to honor her. A brief reception will follow in the Murphy Center.
