I will continue to monitor the needs of the parish and will make adjustments to the schedule if they are needed. I hope this new schedule will make it easier for you to consider joining us for daily Mass at some point in your week. Next week, we will have the privilege of hosting the Silver Rose at three of our Masses (Sat. 5pm, Sun. 7:30am and 9:30am). The Silver Rose is a program of the Knights of Columbus in Canada, the United States and Mexico that is designed to promote the dignity of human life and honoring Our Lady. There are a series of hand-crafted silver roses that travel throughout our country before completing its pilgrimage in Mexico City on or about December 12th, the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. To find out more about the rose, visit: https://www.kofc.org/en/what-we-do/faith-in-action-programs/life/silver-rose.html?1tab=1tab0 It is a privilege for our parish to host a Silver Rose next weekend. It will be on display during the Mass and available for parishioners to view following the Masses. Thank you, to Ramiro Balli, Worthy Grand Knight, John Jackson, and all of the Knights of Council #13927 for making this opportunity available to us. Finally, we will have our liturgical ministry fair after all of the Masses next week. Please prayerfully consider signing up to help us in one of these important ministries. Have a safe and blessed week! In Christ, Fr. Tom

On Sept. 9, we celebrate the feast of Blessed Frederic Ozanam, the founder of the Society of

St. Vincent de Paul. Frederic heard the call of Jesus to love and serve those who are suffering. Following in his

footsteps, our National Society of SVdP has a yearly fundraiser, Walk for the Friends of the Poor to be

held locally on Sept. 25th. We will be sharing

more about this over the coming weeks. Please pray for this worthy event.

Thank you!

FOOD PANTRY DONATIONS – A SIMPLE BUT TREMENDOUS GIFT TO GIVE TO OTHERS

Many of our neighbors live day to day, not knowing where their next meal is coming from. By filling the church donation baskets on a weekly basis, St. Vincent de Paul Parishioners are making an impact – a very large impact! The Vincentian Family Center Pantry is very thankful for each and every donation received to help our Friends in Need. Canned goods & non-perishable items are always in great need.

To volunteer at the Pantry, email the VFC:

Have you been thinking about becoming a Roman Catholic?

Perhaps you have been attending Mass with your family or friends and just never “got around to it”. Maybe you aren’t quite sure if you are ready to take this step and want to know more about the Catholic faith before making a commitment. You might have been raised as a Catholic but never had all of your Sacraments of Initiation — Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation. Then you may be ready for the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA). If you have children over the age of 7 who have not received their sacraments, we have an RCIA process adapted for children,

too! Anyone interested in learning about the Catholic faith or inquiring about initiation in the Church is invited to call the Parish Office at 512-720-5197.

One Life, One Rose -- Our Lady of Guadalupe Silver Rose Program

In 1960, the Knights of Columbus launched a program to honor Our Blessed Mother as a symbol for the Sanctity of Life by transport-

ing a rose amongst parishes from Canada to Mexico. This program now encompasses 8 “Silver Roses” traversing diverse routes each year to arrive at the Basilica of our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City for Dec 12th feast day. SVdP KofC Council 13927 is blessed to host one of the Silver Roses the weekend of September 11th & 12th during 5PM Mass on Saturday as well as 7:30AM and 9:30AM Masses on Sunday. Following each Mass, the Silver Rose will be available for viewing to inspire Faith Renewal and Sanctity of Life.

CATHOLIC SOCIAL TEACHING CORNER

Ephphatha! As we open our eyes to see, and open

our ears to hear, we will notice people around us

suffering from homelessness, poverty, inadequate

health care and joblessness. The Gospel story

reminds us not only to remember those on the

peripheries, but also to open our hearts — reaching

out to them in humble service.

CEDARBRAKE RETREATS

Cedarbrake “On the Road Retreat” at St. Joseph, Bryan: Join Franciscan Father Albert Haase as he gives

a day retreat on the Lord’s Prayer Sept. 22 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Joseph Parish in Bryan. As early as the second century, the Lord's Prayer was

referred to as a "Summary of the Entire Gospel." It was viewed not simply as a prayer method, but also a

statement that incorporated all the teachings of Jesus. Cost is $40, which includes lunch. Register at

www.austindiocese.org/cedarbrake or call (254) 780-2436.

Fall in Love Again: Spend a fall day on Oct. 15 at Cedarbrake being renewed in the Spirit by reflecting on

God’s love for you through the beauty and silence of nature, Scripture and the Eucharist. Brian Egan,

director of Cedarbrake, will lead the reflections. Mass will be celebrated. The retreat will be from 9:30 a.m. to

2 p.m. Cost is $40, which includes lunch. Register at www.austindiocese.org/cedarbrake

or call (254) 780-2436.
