NEW STUDENT ORIENTATIONWelcome to the Toro Family

Starting college is an exciting time that comes with significant changes. To help you make a successful transition to university life, CSUDH requires all conditionally admitted first-time freshmen to attend mandatory New Student Orientation (NSO) as part of the enrollment process.

A fun and informative program designed just for you and your parents or guardians, NSO is held on select dates in June to ensure students receive advising and enrollment assistance prior to the start of Early Start summer school (if required). NSO is designed to answer all of your questions regarding the enrollment process, Early Start summer school, academic advising and course registration. Our goal is to give you a strong start as you embark on your journey at CSUDH.

Register for NSO

NSO registration opens in April. Once registration opens, you’ll receive an email with information on how to reserve your spot online. Be sure to check your Toro email and register for NSO by June 1, no exceptions. Students who do not register for NSO by the June 1 deadline, or who do not attend NSO, are not eligible to enroll for Fall, 2018. Remember, you must submit your Intent to Enroll before you can register for NSO.

NSO FeeThe cost for New Student Orientation is $99. The fee will be placed on your My.CSUDH.EDU student account approximately 5 business days before your orientation date. Students will have until August 17 to pay the NSO fee.

Key NSO Reminders

1. Pick a date that works best for you. Since spaces ar e filled on a first-come, first-served basis, we highly recommend reserving your orientation spot online early.

2. You will only be able to change your NSO reservation one time.

3. If you missed your NSO date, you must submit an NSO petition. If appr oved, you may reschedule. Please note, petitions are considered on a case-by-case basis.

NSO is a full day (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) program. Students must stay for the entire program, no exceptions. Lunch is included with the orientation fee.

Parent/Family OrientationWe want your family to share your CSUDH experience with you, so we offer a Parent/Family Orientation that runs concurrent to Freshman NSO. This is a separate program specifically designed to meet the needs of your parent, guardian or sponsor, Parent/Family Orientations are held on the same June Freshman NSO dates, and are available in either English or Spanish.

The cost for Parent/Family Orientation is $30 per parent/guardian/sponsor. A registration email will be sent to students 24 hours after they register for Freshman NSO. Online registration and fee payment for Parent/Family Orientation must be completed 10 days before the student’s confirmed registration date. Spaces are limited to two participants per student. The parent program is designed for parents/guardians/sponsors; therefore neither friends nor children can attend.

Visit Our NSO Website We highly encourage you to visit csudh.edu/freshmannso to have your questions answered, or email [email protected]. If you feel like talking, call us at (310) 243-2113. We have a phone line dedicated to answering your NSO questions. @csudh_nso
