First Grade Class
Welcome
• First grade is fun and fabulous!
• Our classroom consists of a teacher and students who belong together like a family.
• We will care for and respect one another all year long!
• As the kids grow up their clothes get too small and may not be appropriate for school, especially shorts and skirts.
• Refer to your Student Handbook for specifications.
• No Mohawks/fauxhawks, cut in designs in hair, spaghetti straps, tattoos, or shorts shorter than finger lip length.
Tardies and Absences• The tardy bell rings at 8:20.
• We begin instruction promptly at 8:20 every day.
• If your child will be absent you MUST send a note, not just call.
• Tardy policy:• 4 tardies – Schultz sends home a letter• 5 tardies - Phone call home and assign 1 after school detention
day; loss of eligibility for that nine week’s perfect attendance award.
• 7 tardies – Principal calls home and assigns 2 days detention; all before and after school activities suspended until next grading period.
Homework• A monthly Homework sheet is sent
home in the Homework Folder … keep this in the plastic sleeve for reference.
• You will have homework every night Monday – Thursday. This includes daily practice of sight words, 120 chart and math facts. You should also be reading every day with your child.
***There will also be special homework projects and reminders stapled in your child’s planner.***
•
Behavior• Daily behavior will be recorded in the
Homework folder.
• We will only be recording an E, S, N or U in the planner.
• PARENTS NEED TO CHECK AND SIGN THE CONDUCT NIGHTLY.
• All students start the day on Ready to Learn which is considered an S
Consequences1. First Warning2. Second Warning3. Loss of Privilege or Time Out4. Note or Phone Call Home to Parent5. Office Visit

Weekly Folders• Every Tuesday your child will bring
home a Weekly Folder that reflects his academic progress and behavior for the week.
• Sit with your child and review grades and conduct.
• Please keep all papers/work at home• Sign and return the next day.
